Jay watched Beyoncé intently as she watched the Lakers game. He kept his eyes on her as she smiled softly to herself enjoying the spectacle of it all.

Once she noticed him looking at her, she instantly became nervous.

"Um, hi," she smiled as she felt herself turning red.

"Hey," he chuckled with a smile.

They had a moment where they both just smiled at each other like high schoolers until Beyoncé broke eye contact with him and focused on the game.

"This is so cool. Sitting court-side. Thanks for bringing me here," Beyoncé smiled.

"Yeah, of course. I take it you like basketball?" he asked her, making note of it as it was something they had in common.

"I do. My dad and I used to watch games on TV when I was little. It was kind of our thing," she told him.

"Cool, are you close with your dad?" he asked her, really interested in getting to know her.

"I was when I was little, but not so much anymore," she told him as she looked down and fiddled with her hands.

He realized that he'd struck a nerve. After spending time with her, he noticed that she played with her hands when she got nervous.

"I'm sorry. Let's talk about something else," he replied before he grabbed her hand and interlocking their fingers.

She smiled as she looked at their hands.

"Look at that. You let me hold your hand this time. Progress," he said, referring to one of the last times they'd gone out when she'd snatched her hand back during his attempt to hold her hand.

"Sorry about that. It wasn't on purpose. It was just a reflex," she apologized.

"Nah, it's all good ma. I get it," he told her.

She cleared her throat and spoke again.

"Okay, so how did you get into the hotel business?" she asked him, changing the subject.

"Well, it's more of a family business. My dad started the first hotel in New York before I was even born. When I was sixteen, we moved here, so he could open the one here. After I finished college, I started shadowing him, and eventually, he made me CEO, but he's still head of the board. Everything I do goes through him," he explained to her.

"So what's it like? Running a hotel?" she asked him.

He chuckled as he squeezed her hand.

He found it cute that she was initiating conversation now. When they'd gone out on their first date, he had to ask most if not all of the questions.
