I was tired but I had to stay awake. In order to film with Mark hyung, I had to stay up late and he had to wake up early. Ugh, the pain of being in the different time zone. My makeup artist also seemed tired. I apologized that she had to stay late because of this project. The Abyss team however, looked as energetic as their artist. Did they feed them batteries?
"Hi everyone, welcome back to GOT2Day with Youngjae!," I started. "We've talked with Jaebeom hyung and Jackson hyung. Can you guess who's next?" I paused to give the imaginary viewers a chance to answer.
"It's Mark hyung's turn now. And since he's back in LA already, we have no choice but to do this virtually. Hi Mark hyung! Are you awake now?" I tried to sound cheerful, while he seemed sleepy. I bet he just woke up.
"I am, but my brain is not working yet," he grunted while drinking something, coffee, I guessed. He wore his usual hoodie and I complained.
"Hyung.. I know that you don't have to wear matching outfit, but can't you at least wear something other than hoodie?"
"What's wrong with my hoodie? I always wear hoodie," he grunted.
"Ughh. This is not a IG live or Vlive.. At least wear something nicer," I complained. But it was useless though. We're already filming.
"Wait, where's Mae noona?" I suddenly remembered that she hasn't in the frame yet.
"Wait, let me get her," he went out of frame and a bit later came back with Mae noona. Luckily, she wore something presentable and covered her face with a face mask.
"Hi Mae noona! Good morning," I greeted her.
"Morning. Is it morning there?" she asked while frowning her eyebrow.
"No, it's late at night here. Anyway, let's started. Let's start with introduction. Hi, I'm Sunshine Youngjae," I started.
"I'm Mark," Mark hyung introduced himself plainly.
"Hyung!!!! You were not plain like that back then. You'd go all cute and full of aegyo," I pointed and Mae noona chuckled at my complaint.
"I'm not in Korea anymore, and it's time to let go the aegyo things," he frowned.
"Okay.. Okay.. let's stop there before he gets mad," Mae noona stepped in as Mark hyung looked pissed already, "I'm Maeve, but you can call me Mae."
"Okay, let's start with the basic," I decided to go on as I was tired as well. "You're a noona to me, but about with Mark hyung?"
"I'm the same age as Jackson, so he's older," Mae noona answered.
"Are you American as well or what?"
"I'm Australian," she answered. "But I moved to LA when I was still a child and continued to live there while my parents went back to Australia a bit before the pandemic started."
"Aaahhh.. Thus the false rumours," I commented.
"What false rumour?" she asked. I didn't know whether I should answer or not since I knew Mark hyung didn't like that rumour very much.
"Back then, he was rumoured to date someone with the same nationality as you," I decided to answer without pointing finger.
"Oh no, back then I haven't met him again yet," she answered.
"Wait, met him again? Why do you guys have to meet twice?" I groaned.
"What happened? Did the others meet twice as well?" Mark hyung asked.
"Yes," I answered. "Jaebeom hyung met Elle noona first when we were trainess and then the second time was after he joined H1GHR music. Jackson hyung also met, oh no, he was on another level. He wed Ellie noona twice. The first one was only an arranged and a contract one, while the second one was genuine. And now you too," I explained. "Okay, so tell us your story then."
Mark hyung ordered Mae noona to talk since he was still too sleepy to talk. "First time was when I just moved to LA. The other kids teased me a lot because of my accent and he was the only one that didn't. I became friends with him though I regretted a bit because he didn't talk much back then. I was hoping I could pick up LA accent but he wasn't talking, so he was a bit useless."
"How old were you when you first met?"
"6 years I guess. I don't remember," she shrugged.
"Okay, then what happened?"
"Then puberty happened. It became weird to hang out with opposite sex. Girls especially. They would talk behind your back, gossiping everyone else. I was one of their target. They didn't believe when I told them that I was just friend with this guy," she pointed Mark hyung, "so they were kind of bullying me. Since then I avoided him, but even until high school, they still didn't believe me. I was sort of hate him because of that. I wasn't fond of being in the spotlight, and he made me be in the spotlight. I avoided him until he had to go to Korea. After that, I never met him again. Even when he came back to LA during holidays."
"Another runaway," I commented. "Then what happened?"
"Then she lost her job, became a part timer and it was at Will's. We met again, of course. And this time I didn't let her run away," Mark hyung answered.
"So, it was her? The dating rumour at Will's office?" I asked.
"Yes," Mark hyung admitted. "At that time I was scared that she would run away again, so I kind of put her in my house to look over her."
"Really?" I raised my eyebrow at his story.
"Some sasaeng threw eggs at her in front of her apartment. That means they knew where she lived and it wasn't safe. So I told her to stay at my house for the time being. After all, there were my parents and Joey. So it's not like it's only both of us in the house," Mark hyung continued. Even if he didn't explain it, I bet fans were just saying that it was American way. And that it's natural for foreigner to live under the same roof even before getting married.
"So, you knew him being famous when you met the second time?" I turned my attention to Mae noona.
"I did. But that's only because my best friend was his ultimate fans," she rolled her eyes while Mark hyung laughed with his usual high pitched laugh.
"She complained that she remembered stuff about me because her friends told her about it every day. She remembered that I like red, tattoos and had a temper because her friends told her stuff from the fandom website," Mark hyung ratted her.
"So, do you like her from the beginning, Mark hyung?" I asked.
"Umm.. I don't know about my childhood. All I know we were close. She often came to my house to play and vice versa. But we were just kids," he confessed.
"Then the second time?"
"I was kind of being used to be friends with her. I felt comfortable with her. There was one time I became her classmates again and we clicked again quickly. My mother even commented that I talked more when I'm with her. Then I never met her and when I did, I remembered how I like to be around her. So, I decided to keep her."
"What do you like about her?"
"I'm just comfortable with her. I can talk about everything with her. And she doesn't hesitate to tell anything to me. Hell, she even said that my handsome look was no use," Mark hyung suddenly looked annoyed.
"What? What happened?" I suppressed the urge to laugh.
"Ugghhh," Mae noona groaned but proceeded to tell the story. "I just said that aside from being a model and an idol, he doesn't have anything else. He isn't a businessman like Jackson, he doesn't act like Jinyoung, he is the quiet one in the group. And being handsome won't pay the bill," Mae noona complained.
"But Mark hyung was loaded. He didn't need to work and you won't run out of money," I pointed out.
"Pfftt.. As if the money could printed themselves," Mae noona retorted.
"No, seriously noona. You're the first one to comment that. Even in our group, everyone would pick Mark hyung to be their partner if we were girls because he was quiet and rich," I pointed.
"Well, I guess I'm the weird one then," she pouted and Mark hyung laughed.
