adjusting

I had english for my second period. Me, Glimmer and Bow all walked in together and took a seat in the back. I didn't even get a chance to place my bag down before Glimmer spoke up. "You were a horde kid? And you were friends with Catra?" She asks all at once. "Wow slow down, yeah in my elementary i went to Horde high but ended up moving schools." I explained. "Why did you and Catra seem off then?" Bow asked me. So many fucking questions. "Eh, we were friends like really close but i guess it's weird to see her again." I explained. "Aren't you happy?" Glimmer asked. Okay now they are starting to get on my nerves. "Look to tell you the truth we didn't end our friend ship on good terms." I said sighing as i used my hands to hold my head. Glimmer gave me a look that explained it 'tell me more'. I sighed again before continuing. "I guess we were just sad we had to leave each other and it came out of nowhere so we didn't really get a good bye." I lied. Glimmer seemed satisfied with my answer and so did Bow. The two know that my moms a bitch and i told them stories before, just not this specific one. I always missed Catra of course. When i was younger she was always on my mind, of course she was i mean she was the first girl i've ever loved. But that was when we were kids, it probably ment nothing. Just a kid crush, that's all. I groaned as i watch the teacher walk in. "Good morning students." She says with a smile on her face. As usual every year she has to give a speech about how important this year is and how we should try our best but i didn't hear anything, my mind wandered off to something else. Particularly someone else. Seeing her all grown up was strange. Seeing her interact with other friends, hearing her swear, the way her voice had changed and the way she looked, she looked so different. "Adora!" The teacher said once again. "Oh huh?" I asked straightening myself out. "No daydreaming in class." She said with a grunt before continuing. I nodded before looking over to Bow who gave me a concerned look. I shrugged it off before the teacher started handing out some work sheets. I've always been good in english so this should be easy. I started working and as always getting all the answers. This was simple shit. I finished in less than seven minutes, i placed my pencil down and made eye contact with Glimmer. I rolled my eyes before moving my sheet closer to the edge of the table so they could see. Thank god the teacher didn't see them copying it. Since it was the first day she didn't give us anything else to do so we just chilled. I saw that next period i had art, nice. Neither Bow or Glimmer had it their next period which made me upset but it was fine. Glimmer had Math for her next period and Bow had chemistry. Time passed and the bell had rang, we grabbed our stuff and walked out the door. Luckily i ran into Mermista on the way in. We took a seat in the back together again since we basically only knew each other. Mermista was my friend, not my closest friend but i still knew her. "Ugh i hate art class so much." She groaned and rolled her eyes. "What class don't you hate?" I asked and chuckled at the blue-haired girl. "Like.. lunch." She answered rolling her eyes. I laughed when i see a few more students coming. Two of which are Catra and her blonde friend. Pretty sure his name was Kyle. As she was walking we made direct eye contact but she looked away. They sat next to each other in the back and started talking.

I made eye contact with Adora when i walked in but i immediately looked away. I had this class with Kyle and he couldn't stop talking about stupid unfunny jokes that made me laugh. I glance over at Adora who was sitting next to a blue-haired girl. Glimmer did say that they had other friends. I decide not to think much of it as i turned around to see the teacher standing there, ready to speak. I wasn't paying much attention but i guess that didn't matter since a second later she came and handed me and Kyle some paper. I asked Kyle what we needed to do and he said that we were aloud to sketch whatever we wanted since it was the first day.

I was zoning out, mostly because all i could hear was Mermista's groaning together with the teachers voice. "Ooh she's hot." I hear her suddenly say. Out of curiosity i see where she was looking at and to my surprise she was looking at her. Catra. "Let's not." I said seriously. "Why." She groaned. I just ignored her as the teacher started walking around, giving us some paper. Every year on the first day we get to sketch whatever we want so i'm guessing we're doing that again. I looked over to Mermista who was rubbing her eyes as she started sketching. "What are you drawing?" I asked with a raised brow. "A fish." She answered plainly. I just chuckled before continuing. I managed to glance at Catra. She was laughing with the blonde guy as she sketched. Is he her boyfriend? No i shouldn't jump to conclusions. I couldn't tell what she was drawing but she was definitely good at it. I quickly looked away before she can catch me. As a person good grades come natural to me. I'm good at every single subject. Except art. I suck art. For example english is easy, you just have to study. Art on the other hand you can't study for. People always tell me it's because im not 'creative' and they are probably right. I sigh as i started sketching the plain old flower that i've been sketching every year since seventh grade. "Still no luck?" Mermista asked me. I sighed before answering her. "Nah.." I answered disappointed.

I could barely sketch something since Kyle kept making jokes the whole damn time. "Your such a dork bro." I said as i lightly punched him. He rolled his eyes at me and we finally began sketching. I wasn't good in most subjects but i did get average grades except in art which i always had the highest grades. My old teacher always told me that i was blessed with the gift of creativity. I start sketching, whatever's on my mind. I start with a simple sketching of a skeleton but instead of legs i drew what seems to be a worm at the bottom. I finished shading the sides and started deciding what more i should add to it. "Butterfly wings would look good." Kyle suddenly said as he was looking at my paper. I thought about it and damn he actually has a point. "Good idea Kyle." I said smiling at him which he gladly returned. Because we had about forty minutes to finish i finished it on time. The bell rung and everyone grabbed their bags, handing the teacher their paper on their way out. Me and Kyle got our stuff and walked towards the teacher and handed her our drawings. The only person left in the classroom was Adora and her blue-haired friend. I was about to leave when the teacher stopped me. "Wow.. Catra is it? This is a beautiful piece. Haven't seen anything like it." She said looking at it amazed. "Oh uh thank you." I said. "Do you enjoy art?" She asked me. "Uhm yeah it's one of my favorite subjects." I said scratching the back of my neck. "Well.. i'd love to see more from you." She said waving me goodbye which i awkwardly returned. We got out of the classroom together with Adora and her friend. "So you're quite the artist huh?" I hear Adora's voice ask me. I rolled my eyes with laughter as i spoke up. "Oh shut up she probably was just being nice." I said. "Nah i draw the same flower every year and she just stares at me in disappointment." She answered laughing back. For my third period i had math and she had english so i said my goodbyes as i walked in. Thankfully i see Scorpia sitting in the back waiting for someone to sit next to her, it was honestly really fucking cute. Like a little toddler waiting for their friend to come and sit.
