Chapter 18; How Could You?

Ashton's POV

3 weeks. It's been 3 weeks and Ashley hasn't replied to my texts, or answered my calls. I even tried going to her house and apologise for whatever the hell I did; no luck.

"Maybe she's on a vacation?"

"Mikey it's the beginning of school why would she be on a vacation?"

"Hey where's Luke?" Calum asked. Luke. Luke... Luke!

"You know what's weird? Ashley's been gone for 3 weeks, and Luke's been gone for 2 weeks," I stated.

"Oh yeah. Small world." Calum said. Something's weird. Luke used to like Ashley, but I saw him kissing Erica. I'll just text him.

Me: hey mate where are you?
3:45 pm

"I texted Luke," I stated as Calum sighed. We all noticed that Luke's been acting weird lately, but Cal just wanted to give up on him.

Luke: out of town. why?
3:49 pm

Me: it's just that Ashley's been gone and you've been gone but idk I'm probably just over reacting

Luke: yeah it's probably that. see you in a week tho :-)

Luke's POV

"Who's that?"

"No one. You look so beautiful today,"

"Thanks Luke."

"What's wrong?" I asked.

"'What's wrong?'?! Luke I have fvcking leukaemia, and Ashton or the other guys don't know. How do you think I feel?" Ashley screamed at me.

"Hey, hey. It's okay babe no one knew." I said as I cupped her cheek.

"I knew! I had fever, and I couldn't lift a finger. I lost weight for no reason!" I noticed that tears started to roll down her cheeks. I can't take this anymore.

"Ashley we can't keep this from the guys," She stared at me, and cried harder.

"I'm gonna tell Michael." I added as she nodded. I dialed his number, just waiting for him to pick up. No answer. I tried again: still no answer. I tried calling Calum. At last, he picked up.

"Hello?"

"Hey mate can I talk to Michael?"

"I-um- he's not here right now."

"Cal I know you're lying,"

"Okay, fine. Ashton told Michael not to pick up his phone cause he thinks Ashley's cheating on him with you. Just-I- call me in a few minutes and Mikey will pick up th- oh shit Ashton's here gotta go bye." huh.

"So what did Calum say?" Ashley asked as she wiped her tears.

"Well-um-Ashton thinks you're cheating on him with...me. I'm sorry ash I re-"

"What?"

"I'm gonna call Calum again, okay? He'll explain everything." I said as Ashley nodded. She looked disappointed, and it made me sad. She didn't deserve this. She doesn't deserve leukemia.

"Hello?" I heard Michael say.

"Mikey, thank God you answered! Listen, there's something I need to tell you. Ashle-"

"Tell him what?" That voice. Ashton.

"Ash I- Sh- B-"

"It's okay Luke I know your secret," He said with a laugh.

"Meet me in Starbucks near the hospital. And bring Mikey and Calum. We need to talk." I said, hanging up the phone and sighing. I looked over to Ashley to tell her what I'm gonna do, but she was already asleep. So, I left the room and went to Starbucks.

Ashley's POV

I woke up and felt a hand tied to mine.

"Luke I already told you-" I stopped until I finally saw who was holding my hand. Ashton.

"How could you?" He said as he got up, grabbed his stuff, and left. I noticed that Mikey and Cal were in the room, too. I smiled at them as if nothing happened, but they ran to my bed and hugged me as tight as they could. Luke waved at me and laughed. I motioned him to come here and join us in the hug. After this hell of a ride, I learned one thing.

If you find someone who loves you the way you are, keep them. You'll never know what could happen.
