The ten children seated themselves all at one table, staring at their empty plates. "Maybe Mama's going to give us the food," Zenitsu's voice seemed shakier than before.

"I'm pretty sure the older children make the food," Obanai stared at the grid on the side of the door which Kaburamaru helped him see. "So, we'll all take turns preparing them at different times. Giyuu and I will most likely do more shifts that you all since we're older."

On the other side, Ray, Norman and Emma had gathered. "Don't you think their names are strange?" Norman stared at the ten children who were happily talking together – save for the navy-haired boy who was sitting out of the conversation.

"Yeah," Emma looked at the boy with the snake. "Obanai has a snake and hasn't bothered to describe why he has one."

"It's a pretty tame snake, not going to lie," Ray brought out a vat of soup on the trolley and began serving it to the table furthest of the suspicious arrivals. "Why are you two so suspicious of them anyways? That's not like you guys."

"We've only had one or two siblings arrive at a time," Norman followed behind the raven-haired boy, handing out pieces of bread.

"I mean," Ray turned to face the albino. "Kinda strange."

"But we have more siblings now!" Emma chirped, placing utensils behind them as they moved onto the second table. "Now we're not the only oldest ones! Obanai and Giyuu are our age too!"

Norman nodded, exhaling as he tried to calm down his suspicions. He wanted to be like his fellow tangerine-haired sister – positive, honest and bright. "We should think of this positively then, right, Ray?"

"Yeah," Ray averted his gaze from the beaming duo. "Having more siblings is a great thing."

As they reached the table, Y/n turned to face them with twinkling e/c eyes. "Hi you three!"

"Yo," Ray gave the girl some of the soup from the vat, moving onto the girl beside her who had a pink ribbon in her black and orange hair.

"Uhm, Y/n?" Norman placed a piece of bread on her plate. "Why does Obanai have a snake?"

"Oh..." Y/n averted her gaze to the ground. "I'm not completely sure. Ask Mitsuri or himself."

"O-ok," Norman eyed the pink and green haired girl chatting to the boy who he wanted to talk to.

"Umai!" Rengoku piped up, attracting attention to him.

"U-uh..." Y/n basically stared at the fiery haired boy who repeated the same phrase every time he took a bite. Soon enough, his spatial awareness returned and Rengoku silenced down.

"Umai!" a boy with abnormal dark blue hair mocked, seated next to someone with yellow hair. And at that point, the room exploded with repeating phrases that Y/n had to cover her face in embarrassment.

Oh no... Y/n thought. Even though it's what Rengoku's been taught – to say delicious repeatedly after a meal since it's tradition for a warrior, it's still embarrassing considering we're surrounded by 38 kids who wouldn't understand.

"Quiet down, children," Isabella whistled, preparing a plate with the dinner and leaving the cafeteria.

"Hey," Emma leant in from opposite Y/n and Nezuko. "What does 'umai' mean?"

"D-Delicious, in Japanese," Nezuko replied, her voice shaking since it had been a while since she last talked. Two years, ever since she was turned into a demon.

"You guys talk Japanese?" Emma exclaimed, her eyes wide and twinkling when everyone nodded. "Cool! I want to learn Japanese now!"

"We were born fluent in Japanese," Y/n replied, tucking a lock of her hair behind her ear and turned to Rengoku on her other side. "It explains our names and how some of us prefer to be called by our last names."
