006: The Gate

"Who's it?" Mitsuri asked as everyone gathered in a circle.

"Shinobu can be it," Giyuu responded blatantly. "It'll be a slow game if she's in. She's got shorter legs, that is."

"Giyuu-san! You're just tall!" Shinobu argued, placing her hands on her hips indignantly. Giyuu shook his head, explaining that it was the facts before Emma piped up.

"Okay! Shinobu can be it!" Emma grinned, pointing to the girl with purple eyes and ombre hair. "Ray, are you playing?"

"Nope," he stated, slamming the door behind him as he approached them with a spread-out book in his hands.

"C'mon! You're so boring!" Emma frowned, turning to Y/n and Nezuko.

"Play just for this round?" Y/n approached him, plastering puppy eyes on her face which won him over.

"Eh... F-fine," Ray stuttered, bringing out the gold pocket watch and memorising the time before jumping up. "Shinobu's it?"

"Yup!" Nezuko chirped happily, turning to the Insect Hashira.

"Kay. You guys got 10 seconds to hide," Shinobu firmly stated, turning around to close her eyes.

Immediately, everyone scurried into the forest they knew well. It was the playground they spent their entire life in. The rocks, the trees – they knew the forest like the back of their own hand. Shinobu finished counting to ten, turning around to face the forest. They're all in the forest, I guess, Shinobu smirked, steadily approaching the front of the forest before leaping onto a higher branch.

How did she do that?! Norman thought, having seen the ombre-haired girl leap onto a branch that was three times her height. Initially, he shook it off as a hallucination before he felt someone's finger tap his shoulder.

"Yoo-hoo!" Shinobu waved from behind, smiling openly. "Found you!"

And Norman was the first person tagged. Strange, wasn't it? All the children in the surrounding bushes gaped at what was in front of them as Shinobu led the albino to the tree. They thought they'd be safe since she'd left but a few seconds later, three quarters of the orphanage were already crowding around the tree.

"Norman was the first person tagged!" Nat exclaimed to Anna who was patting Ray's back.

"I know right!" Don replied. "Shinobu gathered everyone here in like, five minutes already! She tagged everyone faster than Norman did!"

"Who's left?" Conny asked, clutching her Little Bunny. She was found with Don, the duo always playing the game in their pair.

"Eleven people- no, seven," Ray corrected, seeing Tanjiro, Nezuko, Inosuke and Zenitsu advancing up the hill.

"ARGHHHH!" Inosuke fumed, face planting into the ground and thrashed about. Gilda approached the girl-looking boy and tried to calm him down, thinking he was angry because he lost.

"Inosuke! You can't unbutton your shirt!" Tanjiro grabbed the boy's hand, much to everyone's astonishment.

"Why would he want to do that?" Gilda asked.

"Uh..." Zenitsu turned around, waiting for someone to save them from the situation.

"Oh. He was brought up by boars in the wild," Tanjiro replied coolly, wrestling the boy to the ground and pinned him down with his elbow. Urokodaki had trained him well with his reflexes and the further training he received from Kanao and Aoi helped.

"What?" Norman replied before calming down and thinking. "Oh! That reminds me of what Y/n said."

"How long do we have left?" Anna inspected the golden pocket watch that Ray had in his hands.
