First Day: Complete

"Did he do anything to you?" Sapphire asked. I shook my head.
"I would just like to see Jake." Hannah said that he was out in the hallway with the guys.
"Personally, I think he's a bit weird anyway." I giggled. Making our way outside the bathroom, Jake ran over to me.
"Hey. Hey.. are you ok?" I said no.
"I'd just like a hug. Please." As his arms wrapped around mine, I felt a bit better.
"Wanna talk about it later?" I nodded.
"Okay, we can talk about it later."
"And if he bothers you again, just tell me. I've been wanting a reason to give someone a right hook." Paxton said.
"Thanks, guys. You're the best. Alright, let's go to class! I don't want any of us to be late." Hannah, Leah, and I had math now so if Ryder was there, I'd have backup. We took an elevator upstairs and rushed to find the classroom.

Integrated Science (12:15 PM)
Finally, the last class before lunch. I can't believe that this is my 5th class of the day and it isn't even lunch yet.
"Okay, I have one last activity before the bell rings." Ms.Patterson said.
"A pop quiz."
"Wait, it's the first day of class." A boy said.
"Oh don't worry, there are zero penalties for getting questions wrong. This is just to test your knowledge. For every correct question, you get one point of extra credit that can be used at the end of this marking period." Everyone looked around.
"Sounds good??" We nodded.
"Okay, 13 minutes to answer 5 questions: go!" I'm no scientist, but this shouldn't be hard. I bubbled in the answers as quickly as possible. I don't know if they're right but I hope they are. Since I didn't know anybody in this class I decided to stare into space for the next couple of minutes.

Hannah: Hey, I know we were supposed to go get ice cream after school because that's our tradition and stuff but there's an emergency and I need to pick up the twins.

Me: Oh okay, that's fine. Is everyone okay? Do you need anything?

I put my phone away and started packing up. Hannah seemed pretty excited about getting ice cream earlier. Maybe I should ask if she wants to go to Long Island this weekend.
"Alright, times up! Great job today! I'm looking forward to the rest of the year." I handed in my paper and left the room. Clara was there waiting.
"Hey, where's everyone else?" I asked.
"They're gonna meet us downstairs by the lobby."
"We're not going to go to the cafeteria? I'm starving."
"Why go to the cafeteria when we could go to Shake Shack?"
"I think you and I are going to get along really well."

Shake Shack (Jake's Perspective)
"They're inside ordering food, wanna talk?" Bella took out her headphones and rested her head on my shoulder.
"A-Are you mad?" She asked.
"I'm not mad at you. It isn't your fault that Ryder's being a creep."
"No, I mean, are you mad?" I thought about this summer and how I punched the shit out of Brayden for making Bella look like a player. How he kept being a fucking creep after she asked him to leave her alone.
"Of course I'm mad. No guy likes it when another hits on their girlfriend. But I'm giving him a pass because he doesn't know that I exist. Look, I'm sorry for the way I treated you over the summer, that was horrible of me, but I know better now. I trust you. Okay?" Bella nodded. I feel horrible. Bella feels like she's walking on eggshells with me sometimes and I hate myself for making her feel that way.
"We're back!!" Eva said with a smile. They ordered several burgers, fries, and drinks.
"I'm starving. I need a burger right now." Julie said while grabbing one.
"I thought you said that you ate before you came to school?" Jonathan said.
"Well I planned too, but then my greedy ass twin brother decided to eat my share of the food, along with his." Clara giggled.
"This is why you don't leave food out like that."
"I once left a cake pop in the kitchen, when I came back my little sister had already devoured it."
"Geez. You guys' siblings are brutal." Clara said.
"Only child?"
"No, my brother moved out." She said quietly.
"So you're an only child?" Leah asked jokingly.
"Whatever." Clara smiled and let out a sigh.
"At least I don't have to worry about someone eating my food."

Wellness & Movement Class (2:51 PM) (Bella's Perspective)
My classmates and I walked around the state-of-the-art gymnasium.
"Here, we're going to meet once a week and engage in sports such as volleyball, dodgeball, soccer, and basketball. The goal is to be active, so laziness will not be tolerated." Ms.Bauer said. This school is way fancier than Trinity, we get to have gym class at Chelsea Piers and SoulCycle several times a week.
"Also, while we're on the topic of being active...tryouts for our brand new dance team: Dance Now Avenue will take place this Friday. I expect to see you guys there." A dance team? That's right up my alley! I looked over at Paisley.
"We're trying out, right?"
"Duh! Grab two flyers." Class was dismissed and we made our way outside.

Dan's Creamery
"Today was pretty good in my opinion. I mean my desk mate in Humanities seems a bit weird but he's harmless. I think." Evan said.
"What does that mean?" Nathan said. Ethan met him in math class.
"I don't fucking know, today was chill though. I thought it'd be worse or something, but it honestly wasn't."
"So I guess this means that we get a chill school year?" Leah asked.
"Clara, Lily, Stella? I know you have the tea. Where's the tea, guys?"
"Okay, we'll fill you in. That blonde girl over there, she's messing with her best friend's boyfriend. That's the girl sitting next to her." We turned around.
"Uhh, that guy over there, Hunter-" Clara kept telling us things about our classmates and I slowly drifted into La-La Land, and not because I was bored or anything. At some point, I turned around, and that's when I saw Knox and Hannah across the street. She was smiling and laughing with Sephora and Zara bags in tow. They went into the subway and I couldn't believe it. She lied to me.

Me: I just saw Hannah and Knox go into the train station with a ton of shopping bags. So much for an emergency 🙄

Paisley: Deadass?!

Hannah and I have been best friends since we were little, she likely knew since this morning that Knox was taking her shopping. It wouldn't have killed her to be honest.

The 16th Precinct (3:45 PM) (Olivia's Perspective)
"And that's why we need to talk to Zahara." I told Amanda. I glanced at the door to see Bella waving ecstatically.
"Sorry Amanda, come in sweetheart!" Bella came inside and told us hello.
"How was your first day of ninth grade?"
"It was...good."
"What was that long pause about?" I asked. Bella laughed awkwardly.
"It was pretty okay, but some stuff happened." She explained as Amanda went with Fin to go question Zahara.
"Like what?"
"There's this boy named Ryder who keeps bugging me. I forgot to tell you after the meetup." She admitted. Bugging her, what does she mean?
"He told me how pretty I am, how he likes my style, and he kept eyeing my...chest and asking me weird questions. So, I asked him to stop. But he didn't, so I snapped. I'm afraid everyone thinks I'm weird for it."
"What they think doesn't matter, you stood up for yourself and voiced your discomfort. I'm proud of you for doing so."
"Thanks, Mom. I just don't want a repeat of this summer with Jake getting all angry at me because of things that other boys are doing."
"Did you talk to him about that?" She nodded.
"Good job. You're getting better with your communication."
"Also, have you ever had a friend say that they couldn't do something with you because they had an 'emergency' but then you spot them across the street with their boyfriend?" I laughed.
"This is sounding oddly specific. Am I allowed to ask why?"
"Yes! It's gonna all make sense in a second, I promise!"
"Alright, then let's discuss this over some Schmackary's. I've been craving their cookies."
"Really?"
"Yes, I've been looking for a reason to leave work early." As we left the precinct I couldn't help but think: I think Bella's finally reached a point where her life isn't so turbulent.
