You Found Me (Camilo x Reader)

Sidetracked

As we walked down the center of the village we were meet by the waves and greetings of other town folk. Everyone was so welcoming and friendly. One person lifted a brown pot showcasing a wilted plant of some sort as we passed. Isabela waved her arm in a sweeping motion and the plant suddenly flourished and bore a small fruit.

The man who held the pot shouted his thanks to her. She nodded with a smile. It made me think... what else could she do?

"Hey Isabela, what's the coolest thing you've grown?" I ask curiously. Her entire face lights up as she scrambles to pick just one.

"Uh oh, be careful Y/N. She'll never stop talking once you get her started!" Camilo says with a bored expression. Isabela elbows him hard in the ribs. "Ow! Uncalled for!" He grumbles. Isabela happily began a lengthy answer to my question.

Apparently the Guzmans don't live very far because we only walked for about 7 minutes when we started to approach the house. It was perfect though because Isabela had just finished her explanation.

"Wow that's amazing!" I responded impressed. "Oh it's nothing." She waved her hand modestly and Camilo rolled his eyes. He shape shifted into her, mocking her wave and voice, "Oh it's nothing!" He says dramatically. I press my lips together, trying to prevent a smile. I hadn't really seen Camilo's gift in action, and it was insanely cool.

As we walked up to the Guzmans door, it swung open before anyone even had to knock. An old elegant women looked back at us. Camilo quickly transformed back.

"Oh the Madrigals!" she paused and looked at me, "and a guest? Welcome welcome! Please come in!"

I look to Camilo and Isabela for approval and once they nod their heads we all walk in. It was a decently large home with intricate detailing. The decorations were thoughtfully put together. The Guzmans must take pride of their ornate home. The women led us to the kitchen.

"Can I get you kids anything? Coffee, tea?" She asked us as she walked over to a cabinet. After everyone politely declined Camilo took annotative. "Señora, we were sent to get a molcajete for the party tomorrow. Is there any chance we could borrow one?" He asks gentlemanly.

"Oh I'm so sorry kids! I lent it to the Vegas! They live so far outside of town and it's about to start getting dark, maybe you can collect it tomorrow?" The woman asked. Camilo frowned. "My mama really did want us to retrieve it today, I'm sure we'll be fine if it gets dark." He says with a smile, we all start to move to toward the door.

"Wait. Mariano!" The woman calls, "I couldn't live with myself if something happened to the wonderful Madrigals! Mariano will go with you. Just to make sure you all get back safely." She said firmly, clearly she wasn't going to budge.

Mariano came downstairs quickly, he smiled once he saw us all waiting. He greeted us and his mother explained what was happening. Then just like that we all went outside and Mrs. Guzman was waving us goodbye. We began to walk. Mariano and Isabela seemed comfortable with each other, I assumed they were friends.

Naturally, they walked a few feet ahead of me and Camilo. Me and Camilo made simple conversation and his teasing continued. After a few minutes, Mariano turned around and smiled at us.

"Ah finally Camilo. It's about time you got a girlfriend." Mariano said with a laugh. Me and Camilo both said "What?" At the same time. Isabela snickered.

"Oh- we aren't dating." I explain. "Really?" Mariano says in a shocked expression. He looked at me, then Camilo. "You should be." Mariano stated blankly. Camilo made eye contact with me and we both immediately turned away from each other. Isabela nudged Mariano slightly and he rose his eyebrows and went silent.
