"Oliver?"

Oliver looked right over him and peered into his house. "Are you guys still working?"

"Yeah, we are. We're staying later today, so we have a good bit of time."

Oliver's eyes were full of mere disinterest. "Ok." He walked past Addison and straight to Jordan, not sparing him another glance.

He quickly got work, and Addison followed suit.

The whole time, Addison's gaze focused on Oliver from across the room. Oliver's eyes locked with him almost as if he could detect it. A sour look crossed his face before he turned away.

It never occurred to Addison that he could have such tension with someone from across a room. So much longing, and an overpowering feeling of regret. But only God knew what Oliver felt.

"What's going on with you and Eve?" Addison questioned Eli. He decided to use his friend's personal life as an attempt to forget about his own.

"Well, when we made up, she invited me over to watch a movie. And I ended up sleeping over-"

"-You guys fucked?!"

"No. God, let me talk. I ended up sleeping over, and we went out for breakfast the next day. Now we're just kind of close. I guess. I don't know. All I know is that she hasn't gone on any dates for the past month. Do you think that may mean something?"

"Yeah, I do. I've seen you guys together, and it's sickening."

"I really like her." Eli had a love-sick grin on his lips as he looked at Eve from across the room. The girl glanced back at him and smiled back. "I'm gonna go finish up the poster. Oliver's staring at you, by the way."

...

For an hour straight, Addison felt Oliver's eyes boring into his skin. For some reason, he couldn't muster the courage to look back. The stare was aggressive and not at all subtle. It was as if he wanted Addison to see him. He dared him to look back.

But Addison never did.

After about 30 minutes, he finished up the labels for the candles that Jordan brought for his mom's booth. Addison put his heart and soul into those things.

His parents walked down the stairs and looked at the kids in shock. "Wow, Addison, they're pretty great when they're working."

"No. They're never great, trust me." Addison responded. He started packing up the candles and setting them in bags.

"What are these-" His father went to pick up a candle.

"-Don't touch those." Addison slapped his hand and resumed.

After talking to the teens, his parents finally left out the front door.

Addison plopped down on the couch with nothing else to do. He finished the fliers, the candles, and the booth designs. Everything else was currently a work in progress.
