Chapter three
Elora"You have no idea where we're going do you?" Sokka's voice pierced the tranquil air, his words echoing across the expanse of the sky, he lowered the map in his hands, casting a quizzical gaze toward Aang. The vast, cerulean ocean stretched endlessly below us, its surface aglow with the radiant hues of sunlight, shimmering and dancing with each ripple.
"I know it's near water..." Aang's voice trailed off, a hint of uncertainty lacing his words as he averted his gaze from Sokka's probing stare.
"Well I guess we're getting closer then" Sokka's response was laced with sarcasm, his frustration palpable as he glanced down at the endless expanse of water below and reluctantly returned his attention to the map, searching for any semblance of direction amidst the vast blue sea.
Across from Sokka, Katara sat with Sokka's pants in hand, her nimble fingers weaving the needle and thread Her focus remained steadfast
In the midst of it all, I sat between them a silent witness to sokka and aang's ongoing banter, Momo nestled in my lap, his gentle purrs a soothing melody against the backdrop of the ocean's whispers. Basking in the warmth of the sun, I absently stroked his fur, finding solace in the simple act.
Aang, perched atop Appa's head, cast a glance toward us, a small smile playing at the corners of his lips before his attention shifted to Momo, who sat peacefully in my lap. With a gentle request, he summoned Momo's playful antics, eliciting a gleeful response from the lemur as he retrieved a handful of silver marbles from within Aang's shirt.
"Hey, Katara, check out this Airbending trick!" Aang's voice carried across the open sky, filled with a sense of excitement as he demonstrated his skill, the marbles spinning gracefully within the palms of his hands.
Katara's response was brief, her focus still on her task at hand. "That's great, Aang," she remarked.
A pang of disappointment flickered across Aang's features.
"You didn't even look," he noted, his shoulders slumping slightly in defeat.
But Katara's smile was almost genuine as she paused in her sewing, her gaze meeting Aang's with warmth and encouragement. "That's great!" she exclaimed
But Aang's frown remained
"But I'm not doing it now," his tone tinged with frustration
"Stop bugging her, airhead," Sokka spoke up his words dripping with condescension as he settled back against the saddle, a smug expression etched across his features.
"You need to give girls space when they're sewing," Sokka continued, his tone smug as he leaned back, seemingly pleased with himself for imparting his supposed wisdom.
Katara and I exchanged incredulous glances, our scowls mirroring each other's disbelief. It was evident that Sokka's words were steeped in sexism, his narrow-minded beliefs striking a nerve with both of us.
"What does being a girl have to do with sewing?" Katara's voice cut through the tension, her tone sharp with indignation as she held the needle and thread aloft, her gaze fixed on Sokka, challenging him.
Sokka waved his hand dismissively, his confidence unshaken as he attempted to justify his beliefs.
"Simple. Girls are better at fixing pants than guys, and guys are better at hunting and fighting and stuff like that," he asserted, his words dripping with arrogance as he sought to defend his position.
"It's just the natural order of things," he concluded, his tone casual.
