Chapter Fifteen
EloraAs the days passed since the intense battle in the Northern Water Tribe, our journey continued on the vast expanse of the ocean. The salty breeze whispered secrets of distant lands, carrying us closer to our next destination. After spending a day or two aboard the boat, we finally prepared to depart. But before bidding us farewell, Master Pakku had a few parting gifts for each of us.
"Katara, I want you to have this," Pakku announced, holding up a delicate Water Tribe necklace adorned with a shimmering pendant. "This amulet contains water from the Spirit Oasis. Its properties are unique. Don't lose it," he advised, passing the necklace to Katara, who accepted it with a grateful smile and heartfelt embrace.
"Thank you, Master Pakku," Katara expressed her gratitude before leaping onto Appa's back, ready for the next leg of our journey.
Turning to me, Pakku handed over a small wooden box filled with intricately crafted scrolls. "Elora, these scrolls will aid you in mastering waterbending. Remember, they're no substitute for a real master," he advised, his wise eyes reflecting the importance of proper training. I nodded in understanding, acknowledging his guidance.
"Aang, I hope you'll enjoy these," Pakku said, presenting Aang with a box filled with Water Tribe sweets, a token of goodwill and encouragement. Aang beamed with gratitude, his eyes lighting up at the unexpected treat.
"Sokka," Pakku began, his voice tinged with a paternal concern. "Take care, son," he said, patting Sokka's arm with a mixture of affection and solemnity. Though the gesture was simple, it carried a weight of wisdom and care. But Sokka's expression turned into one of disappointment, as I offered him a reassuring smile.
"Fly straight to the Earth Kingdom base to the east of here," Pakku instructed us, his voice carrying authority born of experience. "General Fong will provide you with an escort to Omashu. There, you'll be safe to begin your earthbending training with King Bumi," he concluded, outlining our next steps with clarity and assurance.
"Appa, yip yip!" Aang exclaimed, signaling the beginning of our journey to the next chapter of our adventure. As we took to the skies, I couldn't help but whisper a silent farewell to Master Pakku and the Northern Water Tribe, knowing that our paths would one day cross again.
"There it is!" Sokka exclaimed, pointing excitedly to the Earth Kingdom base as we soared over it, eventually landing in front of a few bewildered men. With a hop off the flying bison, we were greeted by a man who approached with a grin.
"Welcome, Avatar Elora!" he declared, extending his hand in greeting. "And welcome to all of you great heroes! Appa, Momo, resilient Aang, brave Sokka, and the mighty Katara," General Fong announced with theatrical flair, earning a chuckle from Katara.
"Mighty Katara? I like it," she quipped, flashing a grin at Sokka, who nodded in agreement.
Led into a building, we strolled down a hall for what felt like an eternity until we reached a war meeting room. General Fong took a seat in front of us, launching into praise for my supposed heroics.
"Avatar Elora, we were all amazed by the stories of how you single-handedly wiped out an entire Fire Navy fleet at the North Pole," Fong began, his voice dripping with admiration. "I can't imagine what it feels like to wield such devastating power. It's an awesome responsibility," he continued, the weight of his words sinking in as I grappled with the pressure.
"Yeah, awesome," I muttered under my breath, my mind already overwhelmed by the weight of my supposed greatness.
"Avatar, you're ready to face the Fire Lord now," Fong declared, his statement leaving us all dumbfounded.
