98. Okay Grandpa, Square up!

Lee Hyunjin's training regiment had changed ever since he snapped, he no longer fought with Abyss&co but instead fought with Hanuel for much longer periods.

Hanuel advised him like a good teacher after each fight but during the fight he was an absolute nightmare, Lee Hyunjin inwardly lit a candle for and all manner of existences that had ever fought with Hanuel.

Hanuel also started his "scientific research of the internal machinations of spirit" lesson on Lee Hyunjin. This usually involved him making Lee Hyunjin absorb spirit from this and that and or even trying to assimilate the spirit from one thing to another.

Other than that, Hanuel also took Lee Hyunjin to see Zhang Jue and Lee Byeol who both had yet to wake up.

It was during one of their first visits that they realised something that could entirely change the direction of the war that was currently taking place.

Hanuel furrowed his neat brows, "it's changed.... the internal structure.. her spirit veins... they've changed."

Lee Hyunjin had a particularly horrified looked on his face, even though he couldn't 'see' like Hanuel he had a vague idea of what he meant, "she's become like Zhang Jue."

Lee Byeols internal spirit structure had changed. It became like Zhang Jue's. The people of Heiz didn't have focal points but instead had a spirit core and 'channels' through which they circulated spirit to and from the core whilst the people of Arshnix didn't have a single core but rather different parts of the body (focal points) where spirit was mostly concentrated and that spirit would circulate accordingly.

Lee Byeol after being summoned to Arshnix and having a new body formed here had a spirit structure just like that of Arshens (people on Arshnix) but now it had slowly and unnoticeably changed.

She had a core and that core was inadvertently producing corrupted spirit, there was no sign of her unique spirit in her body anymore.

"Zhang Jue told me that corruption produced by a human is very different from the corruption in Ifvnar or any other corruption.... is this what he meant?" Lee Hyunjin asked, he'd already drained all the corruption and let Hanuel destroy it, that was the only way Hanuel could enter the room without suffering damage. "If that's the case then why did Jaehyun Sunbae survive?"

"Perhaps....." Hanuel thought for a moment, "they were attacked by different groups so we can't just assume all the soldiers have... this kind of corrupted spirit. Then again, it could be because of Cerberus, he is a fire attribute beast. Or maybe it isn't perfected yet... it took her this long to fully become like that child but..."

Lee Hyunjin thought for a moment, "then what if Cerberus were to—

"That won't work, sharing spirit isn't a simple matter, you're a special case but for most people that's no different from risking their lives especially if a beast were to share spirit with a human they don't have a contract with. That's just asking for death," Hanuel cut him off.

Lee Hyunjin couldn't help but frown sadly, "what do we do then?"

Hanuel couldn't come up with a solution, he thought of destroying the core but that could cause some serious damage because even though Lee Byeols body had become like Zhang Jue, it wasn't safe to assume it was completely the same.

Hanuel deeply sighed and mumbled, "Eina... where are you.."

Lee Hyunjin's hearing had improved tremendously so Hanuels mumbling didn't escape him, "Eina? As in Einari? Would she be able to solve this... actually if I remember when I was on the brink of death she got rid of the corruption for me! Completely and she even gave me Eneri lots of it... wait... is she also a scion?"
