Chapter 50 - Damage

Elena stayed in the hospital for a few days and then she came back home. She was so happy to finally see Tobias. A car almost killed her and she realized that the most important thing in life was her family. Her leg hurt a lot, but she just didn't want to think about it. Sebastian tried to stay at home most of his time and he took care of her a lot. Tobias somehow knew that his mother was hurt and he enjoyed her presence even more than before. He was growing up in front of their eyes quickly and both of them wished for time to stop.

"So, are you going to quit dancing? And your lessons?" he asked. "I think I will take it slow," she smiled, "I just need to heal and then I want to teach. It's not that hard and I can still enjoy dancing.....I'm just happy to be here with you and Toby, I realized that life is fragile and I love my family, there is nothing more Seb," she almost cried. Sebastian felt moved by her words and he had tears in his eyes too, "El I don't know what I would do without you, this situation was so scary and I felt like I failed to protect you..."

Elena was having some problems with her abdomen. She had really weird cramps and sometimes she felt pain. It was like the time when she was pregnant with Tobias. There was no way that she would be pregnant again, so she booked an appointment with her doctor. She didn't tell Sebastian about this, because she didn't want him to be worried again. He was taking care of her this whole time and she didn't want to bring anymore problems into this. She asked Natalie if she can help her to get to her appointment and be there for her. Natalie acctually tried to take care of her best friend whenever she could, eventhough she was really tired and felt sick sometimes.

"You had an accident, am I right?" the doctor asked, "yes, few weeks ago....I'm still recovering," Elena pointed on her leg. "So the car hit your lower area....have they done an x-ray or looked at everything?" "I think they have done everything, but I'm not sure," Elena started feeling nervous, "I would like to do some tests...you see...you said you feel pain in your abdomen and you feel weird cramps, that is a symptom of something, but I'm not sure if the accident did bigger damage than the other doctor told you. There is a possibility that the hit put a lot of pressure to your uterus and ovaries. That's why you feel those cramps and pain." the doctor was really serious about this. Natalie could sense the nervousnes of Elena and she felt guilty. This situation was not only because of the hit, but the car hit her best friend, because of her. "I hope everything will be okay" Natalie said, "me too Nat, me too," Elena squized her hand.

After having ultrasound, x-ray and few examinations, they waited for the final result. "After looking at everything....I think there is a damage on your uterus...," the doctor finally said, "and what does it mean exactly?" Elena asked. The doctor looked at the baby bump of her best friend and then at her, "there is a chance you won't be able to have another baby," Elena just didn't know how to react to this. "so if me and my husband try for another baby, there is a chance I won't get pregnant?" "exactly....the damage is not big, but it's still there....we can go through physical rehabilitation and if you won't get pregnant after some time of trying, we should treat this problem in a different way, you have a few options actually," Elena was shocked and her best friend too. Natalie was a little emotional about this, her best friend maybe won't have another baby because of the accident. She couldn't hold her tears anymore. "Natalie don't cry please, everything will be fine," Elena was trying to be strong, but inside she was screaming and crying. Why her? What if she will fail and won't have more babies? She already had a beautiful baby boy, but she felt like her world was slowly falling apart. What will Sebastian say about this and should she tell him or somehow pretend that nothing is wrong? There were many questions going around in her mind and she wanted to panic. "I know it's a lot to take in right now, but I need to monitor you more from this moment. You have to come here annualy," the doctor tried to consolt her.

"What if Sebastian will hate me after this?" Elena finally asked. Natalie looked at her, "Sebastian loves you....it can be shocking to him too, but he will be there for you El, "deep down I know it too, but he always wanted more kids Nat and this is like a fucking bomb....I feel like I'm failing all the time. He took care of me since the accident and he doesn't deserve this and," "El you need to calm down. I get it. It must feel like shit, but the doctor didn't say you will have problems getting pregnant, there is only a possibility that it can be a problem after all of this. You need to focus on good things and don't see only bad ones," Natalie interupted her and said. "At least you don't have any problems with the pregnancy, that would be a lot for me to take in," Elena tried to smile. They both got into Elena's apartment. Natalie hugged her and tried to support her, because she had to tell Sebastian the news.
