One More Light (Severus Snape's Love Story)

Chapter 35

Remus came to the Living Room and saw Severus' dark face. He immediately said, "I'm only checking on my children."

"Remus," Severus said, "I need your help. I have a problem."

"Ha! All morning, you nagged me and scolded me. Now, you want my help." he fed his children and ignored him.

"It's about Sam," he said.

"What about her?" Remus asked.

"She remembered everything." He said. "But how is it possible?"

"It's not possible," Remus said.

"But she did." 

"How did you know that? Did she tell you? Have you examined her? Did you ask Malcolm's wife or Cho to check on her?"

"She told me but I haven't asked them to examine her." 

"You should." Remus told him.

"She's angry and she hates me," he said sadly.

Remus sighed, "Isn't it common for husband and wife to quarrel now and then? She just realized that you erased her memory and took few years of Junior's lives from her, what do you expect? Happy jolly and thank you?"

"But we never quarreled before," Severus said.

"Damn you Snape! What made you so gooey like this? Go and talk to her and get her examined fast. This might not be as simple as just remember out of the blue. The circumstances is very suspicious. You need to make her understand that."

"Maybe I'm not the right person to tell her that." he said.

"What?"

"You don't understand Remus. My wife is a very kind hearted person. She never hates anyone. But just now, I can see in her eyes as if she really doesn't want me anymore."

"It's painful to see, I know. But you need to man up. You need to be the bigger man here. Think what's best for her like you always did."

Severus was hesitating.

"Go now, Severus. We both know, this might have something to do with your magic. The more we wait on this, the more dangerous for both of you." Remus stated what concerned Severus the most.

He then went to his bedroom and found it empty. He couldn't find Junior either. He walked out and saw Hermione and asked her, "Have you seen Sam and Junior?"

"No," she answered plainly. 

He searched the whole house and still couldn't find them. 

He went back to the living room and found Harry, Cedric, Draco and the rest of the teams had returned. They were talking about something but he disrupted them and said, "Sam and Junior are missing."

"What?" Harry asked. "Are they been kidnapped?"

"The house is secured, it's not possible," Remus said.

"It's possible, if we have a mole." Malcolm said.

"We don't have," Tonks said, "Only the inner circle of the order is here."

"They probably just left me," Severus said.

"Oh no," Hermione suddenly remembered. "Just now, she wanted to say something but then she changed her mind. Is there something wrong?"

"Severus," Remus is staring at him, asking him to say to the group.

"She remembered everything and we quarreled just now."

"You're supposed to ensure her safety!" Cedric angrily said to him.

"Calm down, nobody wants this, Cedric." Oliver touched his arm. "We split into groups to find her. Cedric, Professor, do you know the possible places?"

They both nodded.

"Okay, we split into two groups, Ron and I go with Cedric. Harry, you and Draco go with Severus. Hermione, stay here in case she returns."

She nodded and said, "I'll check all the nearby muggle hotels too."

They nodded and apparated away.

Cedric, Oliver and Ron went to her old apartment and couldn't find her. They went to her old office and few other places that she might go to, but they were all empty. 

Harry, Draco and Severus went to her old parents' house and her present parents' house but she was in neither places too. 

They even went to any wizard inns but still couldn't find her.

For whole day they searched everywhere and still couldn't find her. But then Cedric suddenly remembered something and they went to an old house in Dorset near the Puddlemere's homebased. The house wasn't empty, the fireplace was lit and they could smell dinner. They walked to the kitchen and found Sam was there with Junior. She was cooking.

Junior who saw them greeted Cedric immediately and ran to him. Cedric carried Junior and looking at Sam without a word. Sam looked down and said, "It's the first place I could think of that he couldn't find me."

He walked to her and held her, "It's alright. I understand."

She tried her best to compose herself but failed. Her tears streamed down and said, "I know why he did it. But I wish he didn't. It's as if he didn't know me at all."

He stroke her back painfully and said, "I know." 

"We charm the house first for the security," Oliver said and both Oliver and Ron left them and charmed the house. Oliver immediately send message to Hermione.

"They found her and Junior," Hermione informed Harry through their secret message path. They returned and Severus was eager to know her whereabout but Hermione answered, "Oliver didn't say. He only said that they have found Sam and Junior and they both are fine. They are charming their location for safety reasons. For now, maybe let them be first."

"Hermione, the condition is not that simple," Remus said.

"We need to examine Sam. The reason why she suddenly remembered needs to be investigated."

"Then, we send Cho or Mrs. Wood there," Hermione said. "Because I think, the reason why Oliver doesn't want to tell us her whereabout, is because he worries she might go missing again for avoiding meeting Professor Snape."

"It's fine. As long as they are fine, then it's good. I'll talk to Mary. You let Oliver knows to pick up his mother to examine Sam." Severus said.

Hermione nodded.
