William Coleman is the principal of William Henry Harrison High School. Coleman is the type of principal who only went into education in order to have the summer's off, and does not do much to improve the school overall. He also suffers from a major "holier than thou" complex as a result of his position of power and thinks he knows better than everyone else. An old school kind of guy, Coleman is not a fan of Mike and his new and innovative ways of teaching. The only reason Coleman allowed Mike to start the Forensics team is because Mike assured him that it wouldn't cost money. Despite this, Coleman quickly grows resentment towards the team as he believes the team members are nothing but hooligans and will make the school look bad. Therefore, he and Mike butt heads a lot.
