meeting Parents

        The moment I went down , I could sense a complete different vibe from yesterday, all three of them sitting around the table eating their own food, no one trying to make any conversation. I also know what is the reason for that, so I went quietly and sat beside Abby, Abby looked at me and gave me a sad smile and returned the smile and plated myself with the food on the table after a few moments I wished  Lisa and Peter  a good morning and they replied to me that was all the conversation we had for the rest of the breakfast.

I offered to help Lisa clean the dished and she accepted I followed her into the kitchen carrying the utensils, she was rinsing while I was cleaning. we both were lost in our thought.

  finally she spoke. "he changed a lot, slowly coming back to his normal self." I know she is talking about Abby so I kept listening to her

 he used to be kind, sweet always cheerful and would always try to make everyone laugh around him, but everything changed in a instant, that day I not only did I lose my daughter, I lost my son in law, I lost my grandson too. he was never the same, he used to come to this house almost all the holidays he used to spend time in the backyard and gave us many memories. But they all stopped now, he is never home, started drinking, went into fights, whenever he came home he was always bruised and we felt guilty that we were not able to help the poor child. But from recently he is visiting more, started smiling and slowly going in to his usual self and I know you are the reason for that and don't even deny it. so Thank you is the only thing I can say to repay for what you have done and please take care of him from now on. I entrust him to you" she said now tears streaming down her face.

I took her hands in mine and said thank you for believing in me, but I haven't done much, everyone take time and everyone copes up in a different way and this is his way and I hope he keeps smiling from now on, that is what I love the most about him , " I paused before I said anything realizing what I said and my eyes widened.

She smiled at my reaction and said, "I know you love him, I can see it in your eyes and I know he loves you too but, what I don't understand is that why did that idiot has not asked you yet." 

I blushed at her comment and then finally we went to the living room again and Abby was waiting for me to go so, we said our good byes to his grand parents and started our journey to his parents cemetery.

I heard from him a while ago that his mother likes lilies and roses soo much. So I bought them and while going I tried to make small conversations asked more questions about how his parents were like. He replied but the answers were vague, but at least I am happy that he is responding.

we are here he said but made no move to get down from the car and just like how he took care of me yesterday it is my turn now, I took his hands in mine and said " look at me " 

when he did his eyes were glossy and slightly red. "hey please don't cry, your parents would definitely not like that and I am sure they are very proud of who you are and how you turned out even without their guidance.

he gave me slight smile, he let out a smile and got down from the car and while walking towards their cemetery I held his hand and gave a slight squeeze to tell him that I am always there for him. Finally when we reached the cemetery he let go of my hand move a step ahead of me while I stayed glued in my position he placed the flowers on the cemetery and sat on his knees and started speaking, "hey mom and dad, I am very sorry I haven't visited you guys in soo long and a very happy anniversary mam and dad, I wish you guys were here with me by my side but either way you will always be here with me" he said and pointed his heart.

mom , dad I have someone very special whom I want to introduce to you today and looked at me and extended his hand towards me, I moved forward took his hand and kneeled beside him. and he spoke again.
