Daniel Fox: The Dead Man

Oblivious Accident

There was a guy named Daniel Fox who was a Financial Advisor at a reputed firm. He was a well-shaped, 28-year-old, athletic, good-looking man. He lived at 34 Palm Street, Chennai, India. Very friendly by nature. He knew that everyone in his neighborhood, including the dogs of his locality waves their tail on having his body odour.

He was following his daily routine. He woke up and groomed himself for the office. Then he went to his office to complete his shift, get an appraisal from his office watchman. When he was going bak to his home, dark clouds covered the sky and started raining. So, he starts running. When he reached the crossroads he saw a signal denying him to cross that four-lane road. But there was no car, bike or truck visible in any lane. Therefore he decided to cross the road instantly instead of waiting for the signal. Thus he started running across the road. Then suddenly a car came at high speed and hit him hard. He lost his balance fell on a bonnet through the windshield rolled on the car's roof then finally fall onto the road He stands up in a few seconds and blinks his eyes several times. Then shouted back on the car which didn't stop even at the moment of the accident and was now far from sight.

Daniel start running again as if nothing happened to him. It looked like he got no wounds, no bruises and no bloodshed even though he was running as he was so fit and fine. Finally, he reached home at 7:30 pm where he live alone. He gets fresh and starts cooking his dinner with the help of tutorials. Then after having dinner, he went to bet in his working attire which was a black coat, white shirt, black trousers and black leather shoes.

After a profound and quality sleep, he returned to his daily routine. But, when he was on the way to his workplace no one was replying to him back his wishes and none even greeted him first. He noticed everyone was ignoring him. When Daniel reached his office he took a step with a smile towards his best friend Arman for a handshake but Arman passed through his body as there was nothing. Daniel was astounded and checked his pulse. He shouted as there was no pulse or heartbeat. He ran outside in a hurry. When he was passing the gate he saw a watchman reading a newspaper and moaning. So, he peeped into the newspaper and saw himself lying on the road, a river of blood flowing through his head. Local police set barriers around his body and started an investigation. It was very difficult for him to believe.

He starts wandering on the wet roads of Chennai till sunset and finally sits at the bus stop. He heard a horn from the sky, he turned his neck and saw a flying glittering bus which halt right in front of Daniel. The door opens and a man speaks loudly "Come in Daniel". He step inside and fell on the soft, furry and springy chair. He saw many people sitting around like him. A white-cloaked man came to him and said "Grab your ticket to heaven son". Suddenly he spoke out the word 'father' and in reply to him the white-cloaked man said in a very clear and rude tone "I am not your father, dare you utter me like that again... understand kid!" His abrupt behaviour quenched his lips. He got shocked and didn't know what was happening.

After a few, his fellow passenger asks him politely 'When would you die'. Now Daniel is observing that man who's an old man. Daniel replied 'Last night and you sir!'. Then that old man who already knew his name start introducing himself and said 'Young boy! I am Ved Prakash Shukla. I served forty years of my life serving as a driver for the Police Commissioners of New Delhi. I died because of a minor heart attack which proved large enough to end my sweet and sour journey of life. Before death, I was happily spending my life after retirement with my talkative wife, useless children and my cute and precious grandson. But, now I am much happier because my arthritis and cataract are cured automatically. Daniel didn't pay much heed to the old man. In the next few minutes, the glittering bus reached the final destination which looks like heaven but not heaven. That place is called Judgement Cloud which is a magical place beyond the imagination of the human mind.

Everyone was alone there even after the company of others because they lost their ability to hear and feel each other. He stepped out and wowed the beauty of the place. There were too many white hooded people on the staff who were everywhere. Everyone was feeling light as they has no weight. Then there was an announcement happened which commanded the passengers to stand in a queue and to follow a masked red hooded man. Everyone was following the instructions. When everyone was following that red hooded man, everyone was getting emotional because during the travelling their feet were moving aright but their eyes were watching their life history from birth to death. Daniel was also weeping although he had been an orphan since his birth. He was raised in an orphanage by Samuel Fox who was a Father of a church. During his life, he tried to find a lot who are his parents, why they left him and what happened to them but he failed always. When he was watching those past events since his birth he couldn't control his tears.

He was watching a man take a newborn baby from the cradle which was next to an unconsciouswoman on the ventilator. He ran outside the hospital and after crossing the hospital premises he start walking. He looked back every few seconds. At that stroke of the midnight hour, three men with knives and guns start following him. Then he starts running. Those men also increased their speed. The man who took the baby knew that he can't run longer. Then he got thought of hiding the baby. So, he decided to leave the baby on the doorstep of Saint Fox church because he knew Father Samuel Fox is a very kind person and he also operates an orphanage. Therefore, there were chances that he might take that baby as an orphan. The same would happen. Father found that the baby who was wrapped around the white towel was a baby boy when he remove the towel for the same. Then he appoint a nanny for that baby. He was the only newborn at that time in the orphanage because all other orphans were above five. The nanny is a millennial named Rekha commonly called 'Amma' by every child. Amma means mother because she was performing every duty that comes under motherhood so, she was like a non-biological mother for those orphan children.

Rekha asked Father Fox - did you name him? Father replied - not yet.

Rekha- Do you have any suggestions for a name?

Father (thinking for a second)- Naaaah.

Rekha- Hey Samuel. He smiles exactly like Daniel. (Daniel was the dead son of father Samuel Fox who died with his wife that is Daniel's mother in a deadly road accident)

Father- Rekha don't make me remember those blissful memories with such a horrifying end. Now drop that name 'Daniel'

The baby boy who had been silent for a long time giggled suddenly after hearing 'Daniel' from the mouth of Samuel. That was observed by Samuel and brought a smile to both faces present in that room.

Samuel (in a throated voice)- Okay Rekha just for your happiness I bless him with the name Daniel Fox (in a low pitched voice) while he smiles at Daniel and says his eyes match his wife Laurene's eyes.

After that, Daniel saw what he had experienced during his life till death. He burst into tears after watching the beautiful mesmerizing story of his life.
