Chapter 9: One shot wonders pt1

After everything was in order, we all decided to chill out for a bit. We waited an hour for any info. And once we got some, we were hit with the worst news possible.

We were watching tv until Gold's phone dinged. She picked it up and read the screen as we watched her expression change from calm to concerned.

"Guys." Gold said. "Karl switched sides."

Karl was a double agent. The agency let him explore the villain teams so we could get info. He was loyal and a great guy. So hearing that he's against us was heart breaking.

"What happened?" Rainbow asked.

Gold read the message out loud. "I'm sorry guys. But I'm afraid I'm joining the masked murderer. I've managed to get enough details and I've decided to send what I got but I won't be helping you. The masked murderer is a A tier villain and I believe that we've got no chance. I wish you luck. Karl Jacobs."

I went from devastated to furious. "No chance? No chance! We survived an encounter with the masked murderer and he thinks we have no chance? Who does that traitor think he is?"

Gold tried to reassure me. "Funneh, I know your upset-"

"D*mn right I'm upset! I met Karl when he joined. He was a great person and hearing him betray us is just unbelievable."

"Funneh!" Gold shouted.

I finally stopped ranting and listened to her as she put a hand on my shoulder. "Funneh I met Karl. I know how awesome he was and how good of an agent he was. But he feels otherwise. And I say we let him go."

"What?"

"Funneh, he doesn't believe in us. He doesn't know how great we are. How great you are. If he doesn't believe in us, that's his loss. All the more reason we have to win. All the hurdles we jumped over to get to where we are is gonna make victory all the more sweet. You're gonna lead us to victory no matter what." 

I smiled and wiped my eyes. Gold was right. We didn't need Karl's support. Just our own.

"How about we have another sleepover? Especially since we have quite the night soon." Gold suggested.

"Yeah. Let's do it. Everyone in?" I asked.

"I'd have to bring my work supplies here but sure." Rainbow said.

"Same. But potions and stuff. I'll show up though." Lunar said.

"Great. You Draco?" I asked turning to him.

"Do you have food?" He asked.

"Yes?"

"I'll be there."

We laughed at Draco's response before splitting up to get ready.
