Chapter 13: Uh oh...

"I had you girls assemble this team to catch that masked murderer." Mr. Montgomery sighed. "But so far, every opportunity has slipped through your fingers. What's going on?"

"Sir, we're trying our hardest." Gold explained. "We're only average or below so we're only gonna win three of five tries."

"If that's the mindset your in, maybe I should reconsider who should run this place."

We all exchanged glances and whispers. Then Rainbow spoke up.

"Sir...Are you doubting us?" She asked simply.

"I'm afraid so. Why." He said.

"The people you recommend to Funneh and Gold...your doubting? The people you chose to do this...your doubting. You knew very well what our stats were and your the one doubting us. That doesn't make a lot of sense."

"Rainbow's right." Gold added. "You know we're average and you put us up to this. Besides, you telling us you doubt us isn't gonna magically better."

Mr. Montgomery scratched his chin in thought. "I'm sure you know  about the party Felicia Wize is hosting along with the rumors that the Masked murderer might make an appearance."

"We're the ones who told you." Gold said. "Obviously, we know."

"Well this is you final chance to prove you can run this place. Fail and I'll find someone else to do it."

"Your scary messages aren't gonna make us better either. Besides, we already have a plan to take him down. All the other tries, we had nothing to do but act."

"Well you should hope your plan works. Your dismissed. It's getting very late."

The Krew and I nodded and left the office.

"Oh and Funneh, Gold." Mr, Montgomery said.

We turned. "Yes chief."

"Do you know why I put you all together?"

"Cause you thought we'd get along well?" Gold said or asked.

"That, and I thought that those three could use your help. They didn't have a lot of confidence in themselves before they met you two. Normally, they were never picked for missions let alone big ones. If you don't catch the masked murderer, I think you two will still be great leaders."

He winked at us and we smiled. What was with all the negativity? Might never know. But it was nice to know we still had support.

We joined out friends outside the room.

"Okay guys. The party's tomorrow." I said. "Rainbow, I need you to shorten my dress. Lunar was right. I should've considered what if I needed to fight."

Lunar smiled.

"I think it can be done." Rainbow nodded.

"The rest of you, get your stuff from Rainbow's, get home, and gather as much details on this party as possible." I ordered. "Attendance. Food. Attire. All of it. We'll need to blend in."

"Why food?" Draco asked. "No problem with food but why?"

"In case the serve something were not familiar with. Fancy people eat fancy foods and we have to blend in."

Draco, Lunar, and Gold nodded.

"This could possibly be our last chance to prove ourselves to everyone that we can be awesome. That we are awesome. Show off how loyal Lunar is. How crafty Rainbow is. How fabulous Gold is. How...Draco Draco is."

Everyone but Draco laughed at how uncreative I got at the end.

"Point is, we've got this. We're gonna do this! We don't need Mr.Montgomery's support. We've got this!"

"Funneh's right!" Gold smiled. "We can do this."

"Krew on three!" Rainbow said putting her hand in the middle of us.

We all joined in. "One! Two! Three! Krew!"
