[19] SECRET MISSION

SECRET MISSION

     As Avengers tower comes into view, Steve slows down, parking his bike on the street instead of the garage.

The night is quiet and calm enough for us to talk.

"So," Steve begins, "what did you think about Peggy?"

"She's amazing! Even cooler than I could've ever imagined. She really is an inspiration. I want to hear all the stories she has to tell."

Steve chuckles. "I'm glad you two get along." He says, his voice trailing off a little at the end.

I let him take a few more steps before I stop, taking in a deep breath.

"Steve?"

When he stops walking, I pull him into a hug.

To my surprise, he hugs back, but neither says anything.

When we reach the tower, Steve opens the door for me.

"Thank you." I say, hurrying in.

We enter the elevator and wait until we reach the main floor in the Avengers tower, trying to find something to distract us as we wait.

"Thank you for bringing me along. I know how much she means to you, and how special she is, so I just wanted to say thank you."

Steve only gives a small smile in response.

When the doors of the elevator open, I see three unfamiliar faces. A young man with silver hair along with an auburn haired girl by his side, and another man standing nearby.

Could they be who I think they are? Are they related to the secret mission Nat was talking about?

Soft music plays as we step out of the elevator, the team laughing as they talk, drinks in their hands.

I guess there must be a celebration of some sort.

"There they are!" Tony says. "Glad you could join us."

"Come meet our guests." Natasha says.

The floating figure is the first one to approach and introduce himself.

"Hello." He says, his voice oddly familiar. "My name is Vision, pleased to make your acquaintance."

Wow, he's so formal. I think to myself, offering a handshake. "Nice to meet you Vision. I'm Vanessa." I say.

He stares at my hand for a few moments before he hesitantly reaches out and shakes it, relaxing when I give him a small smile, which he returns before turning to the team.

Interesting.

"So, I'm guessing this is your secret mission?" I ask and they nod.

"They will be staying with us from now on." Tony says.

"It took some time to get the paperwork in order but they are officially members of the team."
