SHIELD ACADEMY

After graduation, I have been mostly doing some basic training with the team and with Loki while we figure out what the next move is.

At night, I lie awake on my bed, doing nothing but think and stare at the ceiling, unable to sleep.

I did try getting some sleep, but my body refuses to cooperate with me, and so, I am awake like this until 4:00 am.

I guess I have no other choice.

With a heavy sigh, I throw the blankets aside and walk up to the closet to get my training clothes.

Since some of the tower is covered with carpet, my footsteps don't make much noise, but I still use my "ninja skills" (that's what I like to call them) to walk through the hallway without making any noise.

I don't want to wake up the Avengers. Unlike me, they have important things to do, like saving the world.

As I make my way to the elevator, I hear someone in the kitchen. "Couldn't sleep either huh?"

I turn to see Steve.

"I see I'm not the only one." I sigh. "I didn't want to wake anyone, so I was going to go for a run."

"You were going for a run at this time? That's dangerous, especially if you go alone. Tell you what, why don't we go to the gym? Maybe go a few rounds." Steve suggests.

"Sounds good." I smile.

It's a better option than sneaking out.

Steve, like the gentleman he is, lets me go first. Then he walks behind me into the elevator.

"What do you feel like doing?" He asks.

"Whatever you think it's best. I'm up for anything."

"How about a training simulation? We've been working on hand to hand combat but I think it would be good to try something new."

"That sounds good."

"JARVIS begin simulation."

"Right away sir. What level would you like?"

Steve looks at me.

"What do you think? Should we try an easy level?"

"Make it medium, to get motivated." I say. "Missions and future challenges are not going to be easy."

"You heard her JARVIS. Medium level please."

"Starting training sequence."

"Ready?"

I nod, quickly getting into position.

The room around us slowly changes from a gym, to a secret facility of some sort.

We both take cover behind a metal box.

"What do you see?" He asks.

"Three hostiles in front. Probably more up on top." I say, Steve nodding as he does a quick scan of the room as well.

"On my signal."

With a slight nod, I carefully watch his every move, jumping from one crate to the next when he throws his shield. Then, from behind the box, I use a bow and arrow to shoot the target, hitting the robot on the shoulder.

Steve uses the distraction to hit the robot with his shield.

We've lost the element of surprise, which means now we are going to have to fight.
