I let out a long, heavy sigh as I stare at my reflection on the mirror.

Peggy's funeral is today, Steve one of the guests of honor.

Natasha and I are the only ones that knew about Peggy, which would explain why no one knew why Steve was acting so strange, though it didn't take long for the team to figure out what is going on. Somehow they got word of the news and put it together.

I still don't know what Steve is going to say to the rest of team, but my priority is to make sure that Steve is okay, and that he has support during these difficult time.

As I finish putting my earrings on, I cast my reflexion one last look to make sure everything is in order before heading out to the door to check on Steve.

Smoothing out my black dress, I take in a deep breath and knock.

"Come in." Steve says.

"Hey," I greet, leaning on the doorway, "how are you holding up?"

"I'll be alright." He says, fidgeting with his tie.

"Here, let me fix that for you." I offer.

"Thanks." He says, sighing. "I just can't seem to focus on anything today."

"It's alright." I reassure, gently patting his upper arm. "That's why you have us to help."

"Did you tell the team yet?" I ask, looking up at him.

"No. Only Natasha knows." He says, sitting on the bed. "I don't know what to tell them."

"You don't have to say anything. I can tell them if you'd like."

"Yeah, that would be nice." He says, nodding, his eyes fixed on the floor.

"And hey, if you want, I could make an exception and use the portal to leave without anyone knowing."

He chuckles at that, a ghost of a smile on his face.

"That's better." I say, mostly to myself, but Steve looks up at that, brows slightly raised.

"What do you mean?"

"I said that out loud." I say, pursing my lips.

"Well, it's just, with everything that's happened, I've rarely seen you smile." I explain, rubbing my arm while avoiding his gaze.

"Oh, I hadn't realized that. No one has ever told me."

"I'm sorry."

Why did I say that? I scold, face palming myself in my mind.

"Hey, don't worry about it." Steve says, managing a small smile.

"I'm really sorry Cap. I'm terrible at comforting people."
