━━━━━━━━━━

Streaks of the golden sunlight peered through the curtains and awaited entrance into Evelyn's eyes, awakening her from the deep slumber. Sighing heavily, she lay still with her eyes still closed and listened to the rhythmic chirps. The birds were calling to one another in that beautiful melody they do as if they had collectively been waiting for the first to call into the dawn. The sound brought a calmness to her mind, a soothing lullaby.

Tilting her head towards the first rays of the day and taking in the morning beauty, she allowed the warmth to soak in her skin smiling as daylight arrived as it promised the night before.

Sight still partially in the clutches of the night's glue, she slowly rubbed the dream away.

Dreams of him

Waking up can be really harsh, especially if your dreams are better than reality.

That's what Evelyn had felt right now

It felt too real. As though that was her world, where she belonged, a place filled with just peace and contentment.

And it was the first time in a very long time Evelyn had not experienced a nightmare, desperately wishing it would always remain like that in every sleep.

But the memory of her dream faded and she was left with this lonely feeling of detachment, left to explore the empty void of emotions. If only that glimmer of happiness was true but she knew that was too good to be true. You don't always get what you want.

Especially in the life of Evelyn Gilbert.

"EJ!" Jeremy startled her when he slammed the door open to her room, running inside.

"Jeremy!" Evelyn groaned, burying her face in her hands, "I was having a moment here."

Jeremy shrugged, " I don't care. Make me breakfast." Evelyn turned to face him, a glare fixated on her eyes.

"Do you mind repeating that again," she spoke in a low tone.

"I– I said i'll make breakfast for us," he slowly stepped back when Evelyn moved to get up.

"I'm not your servant, idiot," she threw her pillow toward his direction only to miss it.

"You're the idiot. You can't even throw," Jeremy laughed and Evelyn threw the duvet cover off her body, her feet harshly touching the ground and followed him with the pillow in her hand.

"I'm joking!" Jeremy cried out, "Elena help me!"

"No!" Elena shouted back from her room.

Evelyn smiled, laughing at her siblings who were now bickering with each other.
