The elevator stopped at the bottom floor and when the doors opened I saw a man standing there that I had never seen before. "Mrs Mendes?" I nodded "come with me please" I followed him outside and waiting for me wasn't a limo or taxi, but a horse drawn carriage. He opened the door and helped me stepped up "Mr. Mendes has given me specific instructions to tell you to enjoy the ride and to give you this" he handed me a letter "thanks" he nodded and closed the door.
I felt the carriage start to move so I opened the letter and it read.
my dearest Shelbi,
I'll give you the moon at night. I'll give you the stars that light your eyes. I'll give you the sun that made just one more dawn, so another day may come to where i can see your beautiful star eyes. I'll be there to catch you when you fall from the heaven's. When you ask me what I give to you, I'll say I give you my heart. You resemble the beauty of every star in the sky, so tonight we shall dine amongst your beautiful sisters that miss you from the heavens. And when they ask to let you come home, I won't let them... I will never let anyone take away my precious star...
~ShawnI could feel my stomach turn and my heart break a little from this letter. How was I going to be able to face him and know that I'm going to be gone from his life in the morning? This message wasn't going to be easy that was for sure. I folded the letter and put it in my little secret dress pocket. Just get the night over with, enjoy it and that's that.
A few minutes past and I felt the carriage pull to a stop. That man came to my door and opened it and helped me down. I was in a field, there was a path made that was lit by lanterns. "Just follow the path" you really could see all the stars down here. I followed the path and soon enough I saw Shawn standing in front of a table, he was wearing a tuxedo "hello beautiful" I smiled and he pulled out my chair for me to sit down. "Sorry I couldn't ride with you in the carriage I had some details to attend to" I nodded and sat down "its okay, I'm just hungry" he lifted off the trey from my plate and underneath was fettuccini.
"This is what we had on our first date" he nodded and sat down. "I'm really glad you did this Shawn, I love the stars" they pretty much helped light the entire Field. "I love looking at someone else more" I looked over to him and smiled. We both dug into our food and had small chit chat.
"Did you make this Shawn? Cause it was extremely good" he chuckled "I wish I did then if you liked it so much, but no I had to fix the details for what were about to do" he I gave him a weird look but he stood up and held his hand out for me to take. He interlocked our fingers and pulled me up "where are we going?" He started to pull me down the field "its not too far"
Little did I know that right behind this field was a lake with a dock, and at the end of the dock was a boat. "Shawn?" He smiled "come on" we walked down the dock onto the boat and he helped me climb in. I sat down on this little chair thing and shawb climbed behind the wheel and fired it up. "Shawn?" He didn't answer. He just took off. The wind felt amazing, and the lake opened up even wider. We were leaving everything behind and all you could see was the stars reflecting off the water.
He turned on some music that didn't have lyrics "is this just you strumming to a guitar?" He nodded. Once we got farther out he shut off the boat so that we were just floating "shawn?" He walked over to this little compartment area and pulled out a blanket. He walked over to the head of the boat that was all flat and laid it out.
I walked over to him and we both laid down on the blanket, my head was on his chest and he wrapped his arms around me. I loved the sound of his heart beat... If only we could stay like this forever...
"Hey Shelbi?"
"Yeah?"
He tightened his grip around me a little. "Can you promise me something?"
