"Lisa, pa-check naman ako ng BP ng patient sa bed 2." I asked politely. "Kapag less than 160 na yung BP and stabilized na, tyaka palang pwede for discharge, ha?""Copy, Doc! Yung oxygen po?"
"Ask mo na lang if kaya na niya nang wala. If uncomfortable pa rin, keep it going." I ordered before walking out. I needed coffee. Hindi pa ako natutulog.
I was fixing my white coat when I bumped into someone. "Sorry." I immediately apologized.
"Not forgiven."
"What the fuck, Brent!" I mouthed as my eyes widened. It's inappropriate to voice that out so I didn't.
"I was about to ask if you missed me, but I think I have my answer now." He smirked.
"I haven't seen you for years, you ass!" I remember receiving a good bye text from him a few years back. After that, he disappeared.
"You're aware that you're in duty and you're still wearing your coat and people might hear inappropriate words such as fuck and ass from you, right?" I rolled my eyes at him. How can I forget? Sarcasm is his middle name.
He mocked me by also rolling his eyes at me before opening his arms to hug me. I went in for the hug.
Brent was nothing but a good friend to me and Xavi. Never once did he let us down.
"How are you, Vienne?"
"Where have you been?" I asked. Instead of answering me, he messed with my hair.
"Are you my first born?" He joked.
"So, why are you here? Are you a resident here?" I asked.
"Nope." He looked at the women's toilet door before looking back at me.
Was he waiting for someone?
"What residency are you taking?"
"Uh, law." He shortly answered.
My eyes widened. This ass! "You're in law school?"
He tilted his head before smirking. "That tone sounded like an insult, but yes, I am in law school."
My supposed response was cut off by a little boy who went to Brent and hugged his knees. He was accompanied by his... babysitter, I guess.
"This is my son, Lourde." Brent said.
How long was he gone?! Ang laki na pala ni Lourde.
"He looks... like Da—" Dana.
"Unfortunately for me." Brent cut me off— not wanting to hear her name. Well, I couldn't blame him. She left him and their son. It must have been tough for him.
"She... didn't reach out?" I was hesitant about asking that because I didn't want to sound insensitive.
"Yeah. What a bitch, right?" He mouthed at me.
"Uhm... Hi, Lourde!" I greeted the child.
Man, this kid has a bright future! He got all of Dana's features except for his skin complexion. He got Brent's fair skin.
"We better get going or else, I'll be dead." Brent said that brought my eyes back to him.
