before you and shotaro  there was jeno and jaemin

Sungchan was well aware of that. he heard from both sides and saw how the two both silently hid their mistakes of the past. he remembered how their smiles were so full of love despite being friends. perfect friends who understood each other better that their partners.

but what he couldn't remember was what went wrong. maybe it was jaemin losing his patience and deciding to leave jeno for the better. or jeno choosing someone and treating jaemin like a rebounded shit.

not to mention the two were contastly were on edge with each other. at some point, they met at the center and held each other but at some point toward the end of the school year, one of them stood back, letting go of the other and watched as stayed at the same place, waiting.

❝this is so confusing❞ he mumbled.

if there was another person who knew their story other than his close friends, then it would be the rest of jaemin's little gang, GUCCI gang. and thankfully, he managed to call and have an appointment with one.

Sungchan stared at the store sign— SuperM, frowning at its bad condition. but he wasn't there to critique the poorly maintained cafe but to talk with the person sitting a table near the counter.

he pushed open he door, the bell hanging above ringing and signalled his entrance. the person he was meeting also perked up, turning to the door and himself and waved.

he closed the door, taking big and fast strides to the table. once he was close, he took the seat opposite to the person.

❝yang jungwon❞ the person introduced, offering a hand to shake. sungchan just nodded in acknowledgement. jungwon cleared his throat nervously, lowering his hand and putting it back on his lap. ❝I'm guessing you're curious about jaemin and jeno. I get it, they're relationship  was interesting. was because fast-forward to the present, it's just like every other drama. jaemin being the second lead with jeno being the male lead. ❞

❝I know their story but I want to know what jaemin did. did he do something that could affect my present? ❞ sungchan narrowed his eyes at the younger who was unfazed.

he wasn't blaming jaemin. he just wanted to know as to what the bunny did to be wrapped around their family's problems. it couldn't be jeno because he wasn't the type to openly welcome someone. jaemin must have found a way in.

❝aren't you supposed to ask jaemin? ❞ jungwon could read sungchan easily. he could tell that the younger was curious—interested for a better word about the past. but, the past should remain the past. he clasped his hands together, placing them on the table with a soft thud. ❝only jaemin can answer that❞

❝that would be the case if I knew where he was. he just disappeared ❞ sungchan went to every place he could think of. the shops, the underground greenhouse, even the school where jaemin spent most of his time. he wasn't in the council room or the school paper meeting room. he wasn't with the teachers. it was like he disappeared.

jungwon chuckled. typical jaemin, hiding when the truth comes out. but that doesn't mean he doesn't know where jaemin was. he knew very well where he was. he just wasn't going to say it to sungchan. ❝that's jaemin for you. if you want more answers then you should go to the rest. I only have few answers and here's a hint, just like jaemin, they're hard to find❞

Sungchan scoffed. was this guy threatening him? he was a Jung and as a jung, he could do anything. ❝nice try shorty but I have no time for your games. you have an idea where jaemin is so speak up. you and I have other places to be❞

❝oh I certainly do❞ jungwon thought back to the date he was supposed to be with. ❝like I said, Jung, I only have a few answers. you can get the most from xiaojun but knowing him, he wouldn't want to ge wrapped up  into your family  dilemma, again ❞

Sungchan narrowed his eyes at the younger, patience growing thin. he gritted his teeth, slamming his clenched fist on the table. ❝what do you know, yang? ❞

jungwon sighed, smirking in triumph as he leaned back on his seat. ❝I know many things, Jung. if you might have forgotten but, before jaemin met you, he met me. and before he told you, he told me. you're nothing but someone who comes last, Jung. and, I don't get why you won't ask your dear cousin. unless, ❞ he had teasing expression, ❝jeno did something to your moon❞

that was the last straw, sungchan suddenly stood up, grabbing jungwon by his collar and hoisted him up. the cafe was crowded since it was lunch time everyone had their heads turned at them.

Sungchan growled, ❝don't bring shotaro into this❞

don't? jungwon scoffed, hands gripping on sungchan's collar as well. he gave the Jung a delirious look. ❝he's already included in the shit show jeno started even before you met him. in fact, the right thing to say is that shotaro is the reason for jaemin's misery. if jeno hadn't got a glimpse of that otter then maybe jaemin had a chance. and if only, ❞ jungwon tightened his grip on sungchan's collar, bringing him closer until his ear was close to jungwon's lips. ❝that otter didn't catch the eye of jaemin, maybe this wouldn't have happened.❞ he pulled back. ❝your otter is gambling with his heart. if he let's jeno hear it, it's the last for you❞

💬

your otter is gambling with his heart. if he let's jeno hear it, it's the last for you

what did jungwon mean by that. shotaro isn't gambling his heart because sungchan already won it. and let jeno hear it? that was ridiculous. jeno would never let someone hear the beat of his heart unless he chose them.

Sungchan was pacing in his room in the Palace. in front of his balcony doors. it was already night time, the property growing more lifeless. the lights were of, even in his room. only the moon that was shining brightly gave little to the big room.

he let out a frustrated groan, ruffling his hair. he needed advice and that immediately made him thought of shotaro. the otter would have the right saying for his situation.

he was conflicted. conflicted with jaemin, jeno, and shotaro. he doesn't know what to do. should he fight, defend, or retreat? he didn't know what to do and believe.

he let his temper do the best of him back in the cafe. having enough with Jungwon and threw him back, the younger falling back into his seat with a loud grunt. he then stored out of the cafe before deciding to impulsively going home—his parents home.

❝fuck fuck fuck❞ sungchan cursed, stopping his pacing as he stood at the center of the doors. the moon shined on him, like a spotlight. he wanted to scoff. it was like he was being mocked. he lost and she won.

deciding to bring out his anger, he opened the balcony door, exiting his bedroom and into the balcony. the cold night air hit his face and messed up his already missed up hair. he gripped the railing, looking up at the moon.

❝how much more!? ❞ he asked in frustration, squinting to see the celestial object better. ❝how much more will you let me be confused!? I wasn't blessed by you so why are you making my life shit!? ❞

he remembered how his parents were disappointed when he wasn't born on a full moon. they said he wasn't blessed by their ancestors and would never shine the same way the moon did. he'd never shine in the dark, forever covered by the clouds of his brother's success.

❝I'm not special to you right!? so why, why don't you want me to be happy!? ❞

he scoffed to himself. he was going mad, the same way he did the first time he got ghosted. Gods, he was getting a strong sense of deja vu, only this time, the feeling of anger and frustration was strong. he wanted answers, not more questions.

he lowered his head, closing his eyes, jaw tense. ❝why, why me? ❞
