Second Person POV:
You felt the bed dip as a certain someone went for an early morning run. Being a light sleeper did not help your situation, but you pretended to sleep. You cracked open an eyelid once you heard Steve's footsteps vanish.
You tried to go back to sleep as your burner phone rang, and that only meant one thing.
"Hello, sir," you said. "You are slowing down the process," the thick accent came through the speaker. You sighed in response, "I don't mean to delay but..." you trailed off, not knowing how to respond.
"There should be no 'buts.' Steve Rogers must be taken down for our infiltration to work."
"Yeah yeah, I know. I am having difficulty trying to tap into his psyche."
"HYRDA is counting on you to make this work. We are doing our part, now you must do yours or your other family members will see the consequences."
"Ok, sir."
The phone hung up on its own as you flopped back on the bed. This mission has definitely been your hardest. You were told to take out Steve Rogers from the inside, but he had taken a liking to you. Going undercover as a new SHIELD agent should have been a simple task, but you shined during the training. Steve liked the spark in you and had you train with him more often. Soon, the training came to the two of you hanging out together to the point where you were practically dating.
You sighed after putting the phone in your lap. In reality, you did not want to end him. By getting to know him better, you too had grown fond of the super solider. His stern yet warm aura about him was so enticing that it enveloped you.
The only issue was HYDRA, and their ability to control your every move. It was always a family business, starting off with my mom who was young and in desperate need for money. They were willing to take her in and use her as well as her body for multiple projects. Being born and raised HYDRA should have made you brainwashed, but they hired a teacher who taught you many things that changed your point of view. Also, being on this mission made you see what side you truly desired to be a part of.
Suddenly you felt calasded hands on your shoulders and you tensed in response. "No need to be so tense Y/N. It's just me," Steve said from behind you. You turned to look at him and smiled. His face was shiny with the early morning sweat and his hair a little straggle-y from the wind. "How was your run?" you asked. He removed himself from your body, "It was nice. Chilly outside, so make sure you wear a jacket."
You nodded in response as he walked to the bathroom to freshen up for the day. You eyed the burner phone you hid in between your legs. It was taunting you, telling you one option while your heart was telling another. You opened up the bottom draw and placed it under your books. Pushing yourself out of bed, you got ready to head over to the Avengers Compound.
In all of its grey and white glory, you walked in front of Steve, as to not give off any impressions. People were just getting started with the day as a flash of red hair caught your eye. This red hair was no Natasha Romanoff but a male with a lighter shade of red. It looked like someone familiar, a certain HYRDA someone you did not want to see.
You debated in your head before curiosity took over. You walked slower so Steve could be at my side. You leaned towards him to say, "Hey, don't wait for me. I just have to make a quick pit stop at the bathroom." He gave me a soft smile and nodded in response.
You peeled away from him and followed the red hair. He then went into the basement of the facility as I paced a little ways away from him. You hid behind a wall as he descended the stairs. I looked again to see that he was gone from the stairwell. You scrunched your eyebrows together in confusion as you peered out from your hiding spot.
Suddenly, the wind was knocked out of you as you were slammed against the wall with a knife at your throat. You looked at green eyes and freckled face of an old friend, "Seamus?!" you exclaimed.
Seamus blinked and dropped the knife, "Y/N, I'm so sorry. I thought someone else was following me." You smirked in response, "Well, I guess all that training really did pay off." He nervously laughed while placing the knife back in his boot. "Alright, tell me why your actually here."
He ushered you to the stairs and punched in a code once at the bottom. This door opened up to files and files that were at least 12 feet tall. "My mission is to take information from these files and send them to HYRDA to get past all the security lines. That way we can use old identities from deceased victims for our own." You thumbed through the files as he was talking. What you saw were files of old individuals who either use to work here and their relatives.
"Don't you understand what this means? Our infiltration has commenced!" He noticed my dejection as he continued speaking, "You seem upset."
You shrugged, "It mostly just seems risky. Using dead victims as identities can have the ability to put a target if someone recognizes the name." Seamus brushed it off and reached to grab files above his head. "I don't think so. It seems like a good idea already, as we have already used about 6 dozen on our own."
That statement shocked you as your eyebrows raised, "Wow, that's a lot already." Seamus noticed a slight distant in your tone as he turned to face you. You tried to back pedal, "No, it's not - I just thought it would take longer."
"It's because you have become fond of Captain America, isn't it," he rebutted. I was shocked by his comment, "That is not true!" He scoffed, "Really? So why isn't he dead yet?" Your jaw slackened and tightened as yours fists did the same. "You know this wasn't going to be a one-and-done kind of job."
"Yes, but it shouldn't have taken 2 years for others to come into the picture. They hyped you up just to let us down," Seamus said that last part under his breath but you heard it. It was your turn to pin him to the ground this time. We just stared at each other, your nostrils flaring as he sneered at me. Not knowing what to say, you let go of him and left the room.
You went to find Steve and looked through the compound. I found him and Natasha in the control room. Where all the cameras were. The one they were huddled around was the camera that was in the basement. He turned to me with tears brimming in his eyes, "HYDRA Y/N? Really?"
"Steve, I can explain-"
"I heard it all Y/N. I just can't believe I let my guard down for you to just rip it out from under me. How could I be so blind?" He stormed out of the room.
Tears were falling down your face too as he bumped me aside. "Steve, please listen to me." You ran to him, struggling to keep up with his long strides. You grabbed onto his hand as he yanked me aside, clutching your bicep. "You are apart of the organization I've been trying to stop," he breathed. "And you were using me as a pawn. I want your stuff out of my apartment and the spare key before I get back." My eyes searched his blue ones for any remorse, but all I saw was denial and anger. He let go of me and stormed away.
