3rd Person POV:
"I don't know where he is, okay Happy?! I'm literally at his place right now and he should be here." Y/N paused and looked at the bed that is supposed to house Tony Stark. It looks neatly made and untouched, which is quite unlike him. "Yes, I have looked everywhere. Do you underestimate my finding skills?" Y/N questioned.
Y/N sighed and rubbed her temples. This was a very important meeting that they were about to miss if they didn't leave within the next 15 minutes. The client specifically told her that they do not tolerate lateness when booking the early timeslot. "As much as I didn't want to, yes I did look in the shower and it wasn't even wet. I think he never even made it home last night."
Y/N has been working under Mr. Stark for some time now and understands his inner workings. She really wanted to make a good impression to hopefully get a better job than his assistant. Y/N would never tell him to his face, but she wished she could actually use her engineering degree to use. Her post-grad ambitions were high. She thought she would land that dream job everyone wants, but that's the thing: everyone wants it. She knew of the assistant opening due to her uncle James Rhodes and was hired.
Another reason she would never tell her boss her true ambitions is because Tony would probably die without her.
"Speak of the devil," Y/N said as his name decal appeared on her phone as he was calling her. "Happy, I'll call you right back." She quickly hung up from him to answer Mr. Stark, "You've got to be kidding me right now?"
"Relax, I'm already in the building. Hey, while you're there, can you grab my good suit? The blue one?" Y/N put the phone against her shoulder and cheek as she flicked through his closet, "Where were you? Did you even shower? And how did you know I'm at your apartment?"
"You really think I wouldn't have cameras in my apartment? C'mon Y/N, you know I'm not that stupid." She found the blue suit and was placing in the bag as she turned on speaker phone, "You are unbelievable."
"Besides, it's not about where I was, it's about where I am now. And we showered together this morning." Y/N scoffed and rolled her eyes, "I don't need to know about your escapades, but I'll try to make it to the facility in time for the meeting with your suit." On the way, Y/N was on the phone with him trying to give him up to speed on the client and contract we want to establish. All while basically running to the Stark Industries building.
In record time, both her and Mr. Stark were ready before the meeting. He sniffed his corner pocket that Y/N was inserting a pocket square into, "Why does this smell good? There's no way you had time to dry clean this?"
"You always keep your strong scented colognes next to your nightstand," Y/N stated. "I see your using last night's button up." Mr. Stark fixed his tie, "You're a Godsend, what would I do without?"
"Maybe run your own company," Y/N whispered. "What was that?" He questioned. Y/N didn't have time to answer that because the client was already at the receptionist desk, and we were greeting them. Well, he discusses proposals and upcoming projects while Y/N takes notes for him and Mr. Stane.
Whenever a meeting is complete, she always types up a summary of what was said from the client, our proposal, and any changes made or discussions had. At her desk, Y/N would get some of his "booty calls" and would have to page them to Tony's office phone. Two came through when Y/N was working on the last write up. This bothered her so much that she opened up a blank document and aggressively started typing her thoughts.
Y/N ended up getting a little carried away as Tony complained he could hear the keys clacking from a mile away. And the fact that he wanted to discuss further endeavors with Mr. Stane. Y/N quickly drafted an email and attached the first document shown.
Once she was done with her other work for the day, Y/N shut off her laptop and headed out the door. Just as she was about to step over the threshold, Y/N's name was being called. She sighed and walked over to her bosses office. "Can I help you?" Y/N said sarcastically.
"I know when you write your reports you usually do a fine job, but this is like getting an inside scoop." Tony said. Y/N cocked an eyebrow in confusion.
"'I don't think I can take it anymore. Why do I feel stuck in a hole that's inescapable? It's so frustrating - '" Y/N's eyes widened in realization.
"You were never supposed to get that." Y/N said quickly. "Yeah," Tony replied, "I can see. It's not formatted well, but has got some heavy hitters. My personal favorite is -"
Y/N was mentally slapping herself on how stupid she was. She believed she needed to apologize quickly so she can still have a job come tomorrow. "I'm sorry, that was just me spit-balling after I was ticked off about something stupid. Forgive my foul language and poor writing, but I am lucky to be in this position."
He motioned for me to sit down and I do just so. His eyes skimmed the document, looking at me ever so often. I couldn't look him in the eye, embarrassed and ashamed at my carelessness.
Tony finally said something, "Do you think I'm a bad boss?""No. You're a fine boss," Y/N exclaimed. "Please don't flatter me," Tony extorted. "It may not seem like it, but I am always trying to improve the company and myself one bit at a time. My father would not approve of a poor leader, so if I'm not it, I'll do something else."
I waved my hands frantically, "No no, it's not that you're bad. Bad is a broad term anyway. If I'm being honest," I hesitated. "You're just careless at times and need to slow down. Too much all at once will make, not just you, burn out."
Tony nodded as Y/N was fidgeting with her bag. They both locked eyes before Tony said, "Well, this company can't run itself, right? Thanks but you're fired."
Y/N's jaw became slack, "What? Are...Are you serious?" Tears pricked the corner of her eyes. She looked down as to not let him know of her state, Rhodey and my parents are going to kill me, she thought.
"Well, how else are you going to be an engineer?" Tony retorted. Y/N looked up and tilted her head. "What, you think I just read 40 lines about how your career is stunted because of me and NOT allow me to fix it to? I would've called you in earlier, but I was trying to look for open positions."
Y/N hugged him, which caught Tony off guard. He hugged back, until she started to hit him, "Don't do that to me! I thought I was going to be out of a freaking job you idiot!"
