The entire journey back, Billie didn't say anything about my breakdown. I'm glad, because I'm not in the mood to be questioned, but I know she will ask soon another. I hadn't really payed attention to where we were heading, so I was shocked to find myself in front of the old apartment building I used to inhabit. Shit, I never told her I left this apartment.

My mouth started to open, words stumbling out. However, I was cut off by Billie shutting the door, telling me to wait a few minutes while she sorted a few things out. I pulled on the door for a second, watching as it did nothing. She child locked me? Fuck.

Billie's pov

The apartment block was quite rundown, and the lobby inside was almost deserted, apart from an old lady manning the desk. My feet carried me to the lady, eyes squinting to read her name tag. Joyce.

"Hey, is it possible to pay Luna's rent for the next few months. It's Luna uh..." I was going to say her full name, but realised that I didn't even know it.

I came in here because when she was last at the hospital she always got worried when money was brought up, so I thought it would be best if I deal with her rent so she didn't have to be bothered by it.

Joyce interrupted the silence,
"Oh don't worry, I've seen you with Luna quite a few times. It's great to see she's finally opening up. I've been worried about her ever since she brought this apartment, always gazing around with this sad look on her face." Her face soften, before she continued,

"I would be glad to let you pay for her rent, but she left this apartment several months ago. If she wants to have her apartment back, it's still empty." She offered.

What? Why didn't she tell me she left? "Uh no, it's fine. She'll come back if she's interested." I said, walking back to the car and slamming the door open, sitting back down.

"Why didn't you tell me you left the apartment?" I asked softly. I fully expected to come in and scream at her, but as soon as I saw the sorrowful look in her eyes, I couldn't do it. She was sobbing about her dead friend earlier, so it's possible it was the day she died. I couldn't shout at her on a day like that.

"I uh, forgot?" She was a terrible liar, but I decided not to bring it up.

"Where is it?" I asked.

"What?"

"We're taking your there. Don't try to argue, your still injured." I said. Her mouthed opened in protest, but a quick glare from me shut her up.

The drive was uneventful, and soon enough we turned into a dead end. The alley was quite.

"Did we take I wrong turn?" I queried, confused on why we were here. All the buildings were run down, and their wasn't a single person in sight.

"Nope, we're here." She announced, walking out the car. I quickly followed, worry settling in. She's living here? My feet ambled behind her, walking though a makeshift door made of vines. The room we arrived had a few pieces of furniture scattered around it, though the ceiling looked like it could collapse.

"Welcome to my new home! Looks great doesn't it?" She announced sarcastically, before leaning on a chair for a second. However, the chair quickly collapsed, her legs giving out as she fell to the floor, letting out a quick "fuck!" on her way down.

My legs instantly moved towards her, before she waved me off and got up on her own.

"You may not wanna sit down." She laughed.

"The fuck we doing here Luna?" I questioned.

"Uh, you forced me to bring you here."

"Why did you leave your apartment to live here. I can pay for your apartment if you want. Or you could live with me." I offered.

"No, I just had to pay off a friend and with the increased amount I have to pay my company now I couldn't afford to keep the apartment." She assured me.

"Wait, why do you have to pay your company?" I asked. She opened her mouth, but I interrupted; "please don't lie."

"My boss didn't want me to keep working for you. He thought it was a waste of my time, so he's made me pay him most of what you give me. He thinks eventually I would just quit this job, and I just needed a push."

"The fuck? Just leave the company." I insisted.

"I can't. I signed the next 15 years of my life to the company. So I'm stuck. But don't worry, I'm going to stick with you for as long as I can. Hopefully my boss will fire me if I stay long enough, but I doubt it." She wished

"Wait, im sure I can get you a lawyer that could get you out the contract. I could-"

"No. I'll be fine here. I contract will break eventually, then I can buy a new apartment."

She's too stubborn for her own good, I'll have to phrase this in a different way.

"Okay, I didn't want to admit it but I'm scared. I want you to be in my house so you could protect me, at least until we go on tour. After, we can try sort out that contract." I lied.

"Oh, well if you want, I guess. I'll protect you whenever or wherever you need." She promised. Wow that actually worked, I kind of feel bad for taking advantage of her, but I couldn't let her stay here.

Her stuff was packed up in a few minutes and as we were walking she walked back and picked something up before joining me, rolling a black pearl in her hand.

"What's that?"

"Nothing. Let's just get going." She snapped, slamming open the car door and getting in.

Soon enough, she fell asleep, exhausted by all that happened today. Her head rested on my shoulder, and so I wrapped my arm around her, waiting for sleep to finally take me as well.
