Draco paces around his room frantically. Unknowing what we shall do next. Our minds raced with all the bad possible outcomes. He charmed his room to where only he could enter and leave. Narcissa called for Draco and he quickly hides me in the closet in case.
"He's here. I know he's here. Stay quiet." He warned closing the closet door and I heard his heavy footsteps leave. I could hear talk arise in the air. It was Voldemort and his son. I put my ear to the floor boards eavesdropping through the thin walls and ceilings of their manor.
"My son has noticed that something belonging to him went missing." The Dark Lord hissed.
"You've had yourself set on her. Would you know where she could be– Draco?" Mattheo suspected and my body froze to the ground not making a sound.
"Unfortunately I have not seen her since we all studied together in your dorm. I've been wondering the same thing as you." He confidently lied with ease.
"What about you two? Any secrets?" Mattheo had attempted to get something out of them all but it was clear that Draco's parents weren't aware I'm even here.
"We haven't seen any girl. If we do we can inform you as soon as she turns up." Lucius coldly said.
Chatter and questions continued on for a while. My body still glued to the floor unable to move. Sudden silence rises up the floor boards and loud foot steps makes its way closer and closer to Draco's room. The closet doors open and my heart dropped for a moment.
"Come here Darling, you're safe." He lent out his hand reaching at me. He pulls me up and I'm still unable to really feel safe enough to talk. He picks me up and lays me on his bed tucking me in. A glass of water he had brought up is set on his side table. He lays next to me with distant afraid of hurting me. Space he hasn't given me before was there. Feeling and sensing he was afraid to make me feel uncomfortable.
"You know, the past week without you has been hard?" He sighed turning his body towards mine.
"Has it really?" I finally find the courage to let words out of my mouth with ease again.
"Yeah. It's been bloody hell. I've been doing tasks for the dark lord left and right. Nothing as bad as what you've had to go through but I'm glad you're ok." He comforted brushing the long strands that got stuck in my eyelashes.
"I never expected this to happen to us." I add on not knowing what to say.
"Mae, I might need you. Or I'll break. It sounds silly but I do need you." He concerned. His eyes drop down to his knees and I lift his head up to see how much he wanted to break. All the pressure he had to face. I can't even start to imagine what he might've gone through while I was gone.
"Don't worry, I'm here. How did you find me though?" I wondered and he let out a small chuckle.
"Princess, do you really think I'm that cold hearted to notice your absence?" He smiled.
"I don't know. Nights at his manor was the worst." I joked to cope with my internal problems.
"So you think I'm cold hearted?" He joked as he threw a pillow at my head. We both laughed and started throwing pillows at each other. He had stopped and left the room for a second and returned with clean folded PJs.
"I'll give you privacy." He added trying to leave the room but I didn't feel like being alone so I tugged on his shirt causing him to turn back around.
"Can y-y-you help me?" I struggled to ask not wanting him to see my scars but my body felt too sore to do it on my own.
"Of course darling." He confirmed. Slowly pulling my top off gently, revealing even more bruises left on my body. Next my bottoms.
"Oh Merlin Mae, are you sure you're ok? Thes- I'm sorry, it's ok if you don't want to-" he gasped.
"I'm ok. Im just sore." I reply. Before helping me putting the PJs on he lightly touches my bruises. He kisses each one of them then towers above me. He kisses my forehead afterwards and slowly slips the pj top over my head and slips me into the rest. The shadows reappear on the wall. Draco turns around, noticing my wondering eyes.
"Do you see something?" He asked.
"Yeah. Have you ever noticed the shadows on the wall. They tell a story. I feel like- like- they almost know me." I say realizing I sound completely crazy.
"I sort of understand." He wraps his arm around my face as we stare at the shadows reflecting from the light. "I see you and me with hope in the future." He added on.
For some reason I feel like I can read the shadows. I can read what they are telling me and I'm unsure if he can too. I don't know he he said that just to comfort me or if he can actually see them.
"Ok darling, I think it's time you get rest." He said helping me over to the bed while my body is still weak. He tucks the blanket over my body and kisses my forehead. As I think he's about to leave he lays next to me while still keeping some distance.
I haven't felt this safe since I've moved from America. I still wonder if my parents are aware of anything going on. I wonder if Eve and Grace are doing alright. All these wondering thoughts drifted me away and kept me up for a while. Draco peacefully had fallen asleep first. Although I have to admit he doesn't snore but he breathes heavily in his sleep.
The candle lit on my side table acting as a nightlight filled the room of his scent. The warmth of the blanket with him by my side made the burning go away. While looking around the room I had no thought in my mind of what has happened to me. It felt like eating ice lollies on a burning summer day.
Turning my body I see how peaceful he is sleeping. I moved his hair out of his eyes and they slowly opened.
"Do you need anything?" He snarled while I disturbed his slumber.
"Oh no sorry. I was just-" I panicked afraid I had upset him. A slight smile appeared as he drifted back to sleep but he had moved closer to me. His arm wrapped around me and he rested his head on my chest. I ran my fingers through his hair as he slept until I found my eyes heavy.
