Third person's POV

Y/n was living in a lovely neighbourhood in London. She moved here around 2 years ago. Since then she had a stable job at an oofice, made some great friends and basically living her everyday life as a citizen. One of her neighbour, however, stood out from the others. The next door one, with 2 little boys (and Malcolm, who she still couldn't figure out).

Y/n and Goerge, the mother of Max and Joe, became friends a year ago. It started by an accidental bump into each other. Goerge waas not paying attention while running home, when her attention suddenly came back after bumping into a younger woman. She apologised and invited y/n into her home for a tea.

Ever since that George and y/n became almost inseperable. Most days, either the mother went to the other woman's house for a tea or dinner, or vice versa. The kids also liked y/n, that was a huge relief for George. No football talk, of course. Everything seemed perfect for y/n.

Until she came to a realisation around 3 months ago. Whenever the two women were in each other's presence, the younger woman felt more shy than before. Her eyes lingered on George longer, than they should've, every tiny touch from the mother made y/n smile like an idiot. She tried to hide it as much as possible, that she might have a crush on her friend. Not because she wasn't comfortable with her sexuality or anything like that, but George's friendship was one of the most important thing for her.

The new nanny's presence changed a lot of things from one day to another.

Y/n's POV

It's half past four and I was getting ready to go over George's house for our usual tea and dinner in the evening. I just choose a black turtleneck, high waisted gray jeans and my boots. The weather became quite chilly as we approached Autumn. I took my coat, even though between my home and my destination had only 2 houses between them. I knocked on the green door and was greated by a woman I had no idea of.

"Hello. You must be y/n" said the woman with an eccentric accent. She was a redhead, slightly tall with no shoes on, not even socks. "Yes, hello uhm-" I answered "Nina, nice to meet ya" she let me in the door and I saw the older woman coming down the stairs.

"Hey y/n" she welcomed me with the smile I adore, quickly hugging me. She was dressed elegantly as always "Shall we go to the living room?" I nodded and followed George. The tea was already there, she gave me a cup and we started chatting.

"What is Nina doing here, exactly?" I was curious "She's our new nanny. She started today with a quite interesting interview. Definietly a unique personality, I find her interesting and tiny bit amusing too" she stated and I was absolutely bothered by the way George spoke about the new nanny. I asked only why she was here, I didn't need a whole ass description.

"I see" sipping my tea as a silence sat between us. My appetite was gone, I hardly wanted to stay next to the older woman now. You can call me childish or anything, but my feelings won't change. The boys came into the living room, saying hi to both of us and went upstairs. "Are you alright darling? You became quiet" George's words got me out of my head "I'm fine, yeah"

She didn't believe me at all, the scoff and the look on her face gave it away. "Dinner's ready!" shouted the voice I wasn't really keen of. I heard the boys running downstairs and the sofa suddenly became empty as George stood up "Come on, let's go, Nina's cooking is not that bad" she chuckled and I couldn't help but smile.

We sat down at the table. George on one end, Nina on the other. I sat next to the older woman, Malcolm by my side and Max and Joe sat at their usual place. Small talk started at the dinner and Nina kinda was interesting, although I would never admit it openly. Her character seemed plain and unique at the same time. What I definitely hated was how she looked ad George and how the woman next to me reciprocated.
