Y/n's POV

"You're welcome, have a great evening Sir!" I said to our last customer of the day, leaving my father, me and Nellie behind in the shop. I took out a piece of clothing to brush down the remaining hair, Mrs. Lovett got the broom out for a quick sweeping "Will you be alright y/n?" my father asked me, getting out of his work attire. "Of course, go home and rest papa, you deserve it"

He gave me a quick kiss on the cheek, put on his coat and with the bell ringing on top of the door frame, he left us alone. We cleaned up among small talks about today - from the customers to the weather - it was a nice and comfortable conversation. "You've mentioned that the old man you rent your apartment from had issues with you, what's up with that?"

I put away the cleaning stuff, locked it up, waiting for her answer "Well, he broke off the contract" Nellie got her coat off the rank "Wait, where are you live right now then?" I got my own cloth from the hanger, feeling the warmth of it on my body. "Well, I'm looking for an apartment, but..." her breath hitched, a tear almost escaped her eye, I quickly got in front of her, hugging her tightly.

She has been working with my father and I for months now and, even though my father isn't a fan of her, I could never get rid of her. I'm 18 now, lost my mother soon after I was born, got robbed from my father - but that's all in the past and I'm just glad that we are with each other again: with the company of Nellie Lovett. The 42 year old woman had always helped me, no matter if I had problems with my mental health or just a shitty day.

In these last 4 months my perspective of the woman has changed almost completely. At first I've realised how perceptive I am of her actions - the way she walks as her hips slightly swaying, how carefully her hands took care of a customer's hair or facial features, how endearing her face expression even when she's extremely mad. Nellie Lovett was an incredibly loveable character, no matter what she was doing.

Then I've also realised that I couldn't wait in the mornings to see her. Don't get me wrong, we hardly spent any time together besides our workplace, I caught myself wondering when will we meet again if Mrs. Lovett didn't come to work on a particular day nonetheless. I was gloomy and rather bored when she wasn't around, my mood ruining my whole day. "What's wrong y/n?" the answer to my father's question on these kind of days was always some white lie, of course.

On the other hand, her company made any of my days 110% better. I was always smiling, hardly ever taking my eyes off of her (I just couldn't, even if my life would've depended on it). Most of the times I could get away with my borderline-creepy staring, other times I got caught red-handed, that usually followed by her smirking at me and my cheeks burning hot. I knew I was totally fucked when these moments happened.

All those things made me asking the next question "Would you like to spend the night at my flat?" my heartbeat sped up as I said those words "I can only offer you my couch, but let me tell you, sometimes it's even more comfortable than my bed" my chuckling was short cut as Nellie wrapped her arms around me tightly, following by several 'thank you's'. I felt a tingling sensation in my stomach.

I took out the keys from one of the secret departments of the shop, locking the door after Nellie and me. "Y/n, you really don't have to do this-" I put my index finger on her lips, making her mouth shut "I do what I want and if I want to help you, no one will stop me from doing that" her only response was nodding, I slowly removed my finger from her face that was followed by her eyes, I almost even caught her biting her lip.
