Maybe it was just me, but I could feel the tension in the air as I walked through the house. Things just felt different now and I could just be overthinking things, but I don't think I am. Ever since my parents came home last night, I've noticed how distant they were being towards each other, and I'm sure I know why.
"Dad? Is everything okay with you and Mom?" I asked, sitting next to him on the couch.
"Of course. Why wouldn't it be?" He questioned, pausing the movie he was watching.
"I don't know. When you both came home last night, I could sense some tension between you two."
"We did have a misunderstanding, but it's nothing you need to worry about."
"Then why hasn't she come out of her room today?" I questioned.
"She isn't feeling well today. She's had a migraine for the last couple of days, which she's sleeping off right now. Don't worry, I've been checking on her, hourly, and she's going to be okay." He assured me, kissing my forehead. I nodded my head and stood up, about to go to the kitchen, until I heard the doorbell ring.
"I'll get it." I walked towards the door and opened it, seeing Christian standing there, holding a bag in his hand. "What are you doing here?"
"I'm here to speak with you and Kyron. I'm sure I'm the last person either of you want to see or talk to, but...I owe you both an explanation." He said. I took a step back, inviting him in the house, calling for Kyron to come downstairs.
"I'll give you all some privacy." Our dad said, as he headed upstairs. Kyron and I sat down on the couch, staring up at Christian, as he sat the bag down on the table.
"I'm sure I haven't made the best impression since we've met, but I want to start off by saying that I am truly sorry. Not just for what happened the other day, but for everything. The truth is...Ana knew all about you two this entire time, and kept that secret up until I confronted her about it. I've never been more furious about anything in my entire life, because she's the reason why I missed out on your lives for sixteen years. So...after I found that out, I made the easiest decision I could've ever made. I decided to file for divorce, which as you both witnessed...she wasn't too happy about. Unfortunately, things took a twisted turn, and Ana decided to blackmail me."
"Blackmail you? All because you wanted to divorce her?" I questioned.
"Partially yes, but she believes that I was only divorcing her because of your mother." He told us.
"Did you file for divorce because of her?" Kyron asked.
"If I'm being one hundred percent honest...no, I didn't file because of Destiny. I filed because of you two." Kyron and I looked at each other and back at him. "The day we spoke on the balcony, I felt a connection to the both of you, and I didn't even know that you were my kids yet. And after I found out, all I could think about was how different our lives might've been had I known about you from the very beginning. That's why I filed for divorce, because she deprived me of knowing my two, amazing kids, just like she deprived you of knowing your biological father." I could feel the tears swelling up in my eyes, but I tried my best to hold them in.
