Kynlee

After breakfast, I asked my dad if he could give me a ride to the arts and crafts store, so that I can restock up on painting supplies. Painting is something I do to relive stress and it gives me a sense of comfort when doing so, but overtime it became a favorite hobby of mine.

"So when are you coming back home?" One of my best friends, Vani, asked me as I walked around the store.

"Not until right before school starts back. My mom made it clear that we are staying for the entire summer, which Ky and I were dreading at first because we thought we'd be grounded the entire time after that crazy party, but we've actually been having a really good time since arriving." I told her.

"Uh-huh, and does that have something to do with a certain tall, white, and handsome male model that I saw on your Snapchat?" Ugh, I knew she was going to bring him up. I instantly regretted posting pictures of me and Sam on Snapchat, only because my snap immediately blew up of everyone asking me who he was. My response was simple...a new friend...and I left it at that, but people are going to think whatever they're going to think at the end of the day; and I could care less about what anyone thinks or has to say about me.

"For one, I literally just met him, but I'd be lying if I didn't say that I found him oddly charming. The entire time we were on the boat, we just talked about almost everything, and it felt as if I've known him for a long time. Sure, he's a bit forward and he goes for what he wants, but that is one of the things I like about him."

"Awww, that's so sweet! This reminds me of one of those romantic movies, where two people meet and have an instant connection, only to realize that they can't live without each other in the end! Ugh, my heart! What if...when you're about to leave and come back to California, Mr. Handsome rushes through the airport and declares his love for you? I WOULD DIE!" She shrieked happily.

"Wow...you have such a wild imagination." I laughed, loading my cart with a bunch of different color paints. "But unfortunately...real life isn't like a ROM COM, so we won't have to worry about any of that." I started going through the paintbrushes, checking the time to make sure I wasn't in here too long, because knowing my dad...he'll be looking for me soon enough.

"You're such a killjoy, I swear! But anyways...when will you be seeing Mr. Handsome again?"

"This evening, actually. He invited me over for dinner and a movie, and before you get overly excited...it's a double date. My cousin Riley and her boyfriend will be joining us as well."

"It's a date nonetheless, no matter how you try to downplay this." She said, giggling.

"I seriously can't stand you!" I sighed, letting out a laugh. "But there's a small, itty bitty problem. I um...I haven't asked my parents yet."

"Wait what? Why not? Isn't the date tonight?"

"To answer the last question, yes the date is tonight, and to answer the first question...my mom hasn't been home most of the day, so I haven't had a chance to ask her. I plan on doing so as soon as she gets home though, because we're supposed to be heading over there around seven."

"Well good luck and make sure you send me a picture of what you plan on wearing if you do go. Have fun and don't do anything I wouldn't do!" She said, making me arch an eyebrow.

"Just what exactly wouldn't you do?" I questioned, as she gasped dramatically.

"I...um...well shit. I don't even know." I couldn't help but laugh, even though deep down, I was nervous about asking my parents to hang out with Sam. Sure, they trust me and everything because I haven't given them a reason not to, but I literally grew up with two whole bodyguards and a dad that used to be a bodyguard. If I ask to go on a "date" then I'll have three chaperones lurking in the shadows and that's the last thing I wanted.

It was a little after six when I walked into the kitchen, seeing my parents cooking and laughing, as they danced and sung along to the music that was playing. Dinner was usually my favorite part of the day, only because I get to see things like this, and most of the time I'd join in.

"Smells good in here. What are you guys cooking?" I asked, sitting at the counter.

"Steaks, loaded baked potatoes, and grilled asparagus." My dad answered. "And your mom made chocolate cake for dessert. Do you mind setting the table?"

"Sure, but first...is it alright if I hang out with Riley and her friends tonight? I meant to ask earlier, but you were gone all day and I got distracted with painting."

"I don't know. There's something I wanted to talk to you and your brother about after dinner, but I suppose it can wait until tomorrow." My mom said, slapping my hand, as soon as I tried to reach over and grab a piece of asparagus from out of the skillet.

"Ow! I just wanted to taste it." I pouted. "And what do you need to talk to me and Ky about? Nine times out of ten, he did whatever we're in trouble for."

"Dang, even though I haven't done anything, I'm glad to see that you'd throw me under the bus twin." Kyron voiced, coming into the kitchen. He sat down next to me, reaching over to grab a piece of asparagus from the skillet, only to have our mom pop is hand as well.

"Ow! I just wanted to taste it!"

"You're just going to have to wait until dinner, now do me a favor and go set the table."

"But I thought you wanted to talk to us about something." I said, cocking my head to the side.

"Whatever it is...I didn't do it!" Kyron murmured.

"I swear you two are going to be the death of me." Our mom sighed. "Neither of you are in trouble or anything, but since Kynlee wants to go out tonight then the conversation will just be put on hold until tomorrow."

"So that means I can go?"

"Yes, but make sure you're home by eleven, unless you plan on sleeping over at your Aunt Audrey's house."

"No, I'll be home by eleven at the latest, thank you! I'm going to go get dressed." I smiled, jumping up and rushing out of the kitchen. Well...that went better than expected.
