Myah was having as good of a time as a 9 year old girl can have at a hardware store because she loved spending time with Jay
The were in the parking lot walking to Jays truck
Lady=excuse me
J=yes can I help you
Lady=who is this little girl
J=excuse me?
Lady=I mean why is she with you
J=because she is my daughter
Myah's face lit up she loved when Jay or Hailey called her their daughter
Lady=really?! So you're going to try to convince me this is your child
J=I don't need to convince you of anything can you please explain why you are bothering us
Lady=I don't need to explain but I know for a fact that this child is not yours
J=and how would you know that
Lady=because look at her she's black and your white so she can't be your daughter
Myah began looking at the ground
J=Get the hell away from me
Lady=you're not going anywhere
J=excuse me what is your problem is it that you're a old white lady who is to racist too realize that some families are not all the same color
Lady=I am not racist but I refuse to let a child be kidnapped (the lady started calling the police)
Myah=I'm not kidnapped this is my daddy I love him
Lady=you don't have to pretend you will be safe soon
Myah=but I am safe
J=Myah don't worry about her we just have to wait on the police to get here
Myah=what are they gonna do
Lady=they will take you to your parents
Myah=but this is my daddy right here
J=don't worry about her
The police got there and pulled their guns out
Police=sit out your hands up and step away from the child
Myah=what no please just leave us alone
J=Myah it's okay sweetie just do as they say
Police=you got an ID
Jay grabbed his badge
J=detective Jay Halstead badge number 51163 I'm in the intelligence unit
Police=oh damn you work in Hank Voights unit
J=yeah I do
Lady=oh I didn't know he was a cop
J=well I am and even I wasn't maybe you should think about what you say before you go and talking shit about all your ignorant opinions
Lady=I just don't understand how you said this girl is your daughter
J=she is I my wife and I adopted her a about a year ago and we love her just like she is our own
Police=y'all are free to go
Lady=well maybe you should have adopted a white child
Tears began to form in Myah's eyes
J=EXCUSE ME WHAT THE HELL IS YOUR PROBLEM!
Lady=I'm just saying whites belong with whites and blacks belong with blacks
Myah has trying to hold in her tears but they started flowing down her face
J=you know there's a lot of things I could say to you right now but I'm not going to
Lady=well I just think it's sad that you decided to raise a black child
J=I think it's sad you can't see anything but skin color you know I will pray tonight that God will give you enough time in this earth for you to realize there is more to a person that their race
Jay and Myah got in the truck
Myah began to let out the crying that she was trumping to hold in
J=baby it's ok
Myah=no it's not I'm sorry
J=what are you sorry about
Myah=being black
J=look at me Myah don't you ever apologize for that there's nothing wrong with being African American if anything you should be proud
Myah=thank you
J=your welcome, I love you
Myah=I love you too
Jay and Myah got home and walked inside
Myah's face was pied up from where she has been crying
H=hey what's wrong Myah
Myah=nothing
She walked upstairs to her room
H=Jay what's wrong with her
J=some old white lady at the store called the police because she didn't believe Myah could be my daughter then she also decided to say in front of Myah that "whites belong with whites and blacks belong with blacks"
H=you're kidding me
J=I wish I was
H=how can someone even still think like that
J=I don't but the world would be a better place if they didn't
