After multiple years on this rollercoaster
Having attachments formed, grown, and crushed repeatedly
Optimism has become replaced with dread
Every romance I'd like to turn into a relationship
Becomes harder to believe in than the last
Despite my every intention to form an everlasting bond
Diving in headfirst draws more hesitation than before
My heart has begun to learn its lesson from diving into empty pools
Hopefully next time I can give it a hard enough push
A push to enter the next relationship with an open heart
Free from fear or pessimism
And hopefully make the next my last
