For some, the path to true love is short and straight

To marry the first person you date, wouldn't that be great?

The rest of us get a harder deal from fate

Forced to fall for one after another false soulmate

Everyone tells me my time will come

But my patience is starting to run thin

To the joy of budding love, I am growing numb

I want to fast forward until this comedy says "fin"

If each love is a step towards my true love

I'd rather skip all these stairs and take an elevator

I'm sick of hunting for the one like the terminator

Cupid should give up on nudging me in the right direction, it's time for a shove

I wonder where this elusive happiness could be

I fear there's far too many fish in the sea

Keeping a headass like me waiting this long should be a crime

But I guess for "the one" I'd wait until the end of time
