Like the tide of the sea as we walked along the shore
A relationship tends to ebb and flow
Many days I wanted to see you more, some days visiting was a chore
By now I've learned more about you than I would have ever hoped to know
The hundreds of hours of memories we share are forced to be passive
Like a yearbook, I can only visit them from time to time and reminisce about lost days
It feels as if my stride moving forward is weighed down by something massive
The passions that once lit my heart ablaze are difficult to dismiss as a two-year phase
While the time we spent as lovers has ended, this is far from goodbye
For we'll meet again hundreds of times in the archives of my mind
So long as we stare into the same night sky
There will be as infinite occasions as stars to remind
