I won the wager, as I knew I would. Not so much as one person even gave notice that the event existed. They were as careful not to mention it as to avoid it. However, I did forgive them all.

Monday was different than other days. Explosions in chemistry and a mind bogging chapter of Game of Thrones were the most eventful things to occur in the day. That and fourth period. English with Ms. Ludwick was extraordinary. I entered the classroom sooner than most of my peers. Denise Delgado followed and Stanley Jones was behind her, his golden hair beaming in from the classroom lights. Class begun with a short video montage of women beating men and then the men beating the women. Wait, I thought this was english class.

Ms. Ludwick was a teacher most feared. She wasn't aftaid to tell people what she thought. The week transitioned to Friday soon enough. As I walked to fifth period through the courtyard I bathed in the sunlight. Even under the trees the light shimmered through the canopy. The blue doors opened and my surroundings soon became walls of white. My eyes caught the view of posters: "Vote Tamara Dickson for class president." "Join the Anime Club." Then my destination was near. Fifth period World History. I loved this class so much my enthusiasm was difficult to miss. World War II was quite gripping."Class, we have a new student. His name is Marcus Todd." Marcus Todd. Carlos Perez rose to greet him instantly. It took awhile as his belly caught his desk. Marcus's hair was dark brown like that of chocolate. "Is this seat taken?"he asked. " No." I replied. The boy sat beside me. He had beige skin and blue eyes just like Derek's. As blue as the Caspian Sea.

Helen sat parallel to me and rose to join Carlos with Ronnie. Ronnie had the appearance of a god or so most thought. "Marcus, come here." commanded Carlos. Marcus obeyed and before I knew it half of the class was taking selfies. I counted nine students gathered together posing. I was upset at first but I soon became distracted as I began to think of Marcus. The bell rang and my new destination was Health Class. But we departed to the gym to watch Catalina students challenge the staff to a game of basketball. The halls were crowded like a herd of cattle. Ahead of me was Emily Harold. She was my height, her skin pale and her hair chestnut brown. I had affections for her. Her skin glimmered in the sunlight as we passed the window across the library. Exiting the main building was more difficult than I believed. Being shoved left and right was unpleasant. Soon enough the gymnasium came into view as the herd of cattle gathered at the entrance under its shadow.

I wonder if I'll see Leigh-Anne or Helen. Or perhaps even Jake or Eric. Wait, why them? The gym had three pairs of bleachers in total; three on the left and three on the right. My shoes squeaked across the wooden floor. I then began ascending the steps to my right until I heard my name chanted. "Wyatt." It was none other than Dallas. It came quite a surprise to me but I suppose he just wanted to build the ranks of his group. His love Kiana sat beside him and all of their friends surrounded them. Even Leigh-Anne, Helen, Tiana, Derek, and Fred were seated near them. However Jeremy was missing. I sat behind Jake and Dallas with Helen on my right and someone else to my left who I did not yet identify. Twenty minutes had passed and
then I caught the gaze of a boy next to me, his eyes fixed to mine. It was Marcus. "Hi." I said. "Are you enjoying the game?" It was seconds until his answer. "No, not really. What about you?" The crowd screamed as one of the players on the staff's team tackled a student player. "Yes." I lied.

"Are you really? It looks as if you are completely out of your comfort zone." I was astounded. How did he know? Why of all people did he notice? No one else even bothered to ask if I was alright. But he did. "You know what, why don't we get out of here." We were still in school technically so it would be ditching. "Sure." I was hesitant to answer. We rose and escaped the crowd. As we descended the steps of the bleachers I gazed back at the faces. At Jake, at Eric, and then at Dallas. They all seemed quite taken with the game. No one seemed to notice my absence save for Leigh-Anne and Fred. Leigh-Anne's expression was one of bewilderment. But I had to go with Marcus, there was nothing left for me here but unpleasantness. It became so loud that that I couldn't even hear the sound of the doors opening. The outside of the gym was vacant but it would not remain this way for long. "Thank God we got out of there."
"Why did we leave?" I was so curious I asked without thinking. "Well, because you didn't want to be in there any longer. I could tell" For some reason I imagined Dallas sprinting towards us, eager to know why I had gone. However, he never came. An outrageous thought. One that would never come true. "Thank you. I was so uncomfortable in there." My head was pounding from the roar of the crowd. "Don't mention it." As I feared the bell rang and within minutes the crowds rushed out of the tan building. Marcus and I withdrew from their path. "Beep! Beep! A car horn sounded. " Aah, that's my mom. I got to go. But I'll see you Monday. We should talk more. Bye!" He left into the crowd and through to his mother's Toyota. "Bye." I said in response.
"Wyatt! Where did you go?" Helen seemed anxious to know. "I left with Marcus. Didn't you see me leave?" Leigh-Anne, Tiana, Fred, and Derek joined us. We then trekked back to my locker to get my English folder and then we dispersed. Derek and Fred left first, followed by Helen. My mother called and said she was waiting in front of the gym. I walked ahead of Tiana and Leigh-Anne. Stanley and Jake were walking right in my path. I wanted to say hi to them but my words wouldn't come out. Leigh-Anne and I made our way to the vehicle. Our next journey was home. However, our adventure was just beginning.
