•Brooke's POV•
I was in the middle of blowing up my ballon when the door bell rang. I looked at Brittany, then got up with the balloon still in my mouth, to answer the door. "Hey!" Andrew and Jason said when I opened the door. I just waved the moved to the side so they could come in. I took the balloon and held it by the tip so I could talk. "You need to help us set up." I said closing the door and following them into the living room where Brittany sat on the floor blowing up balloons also. "I tought we were just coming for doughnuts." Jason said obviously confused. I just chukled and sat down continuing with my balloon.
*****************************************
About an hour later we had blown up a TON of balloons. "STREAMER TIME!" I yelled going through the bags of party supplies and grabbing the rolls of streamers. Everyone picked up a few rolls and we started hanging it up everywhere, inside and outside. I was in the middle of hanging up streamers when the door bell rang. "I'll get it." I said getting off the chair I was standing on and running to the door. I opened the door. "I'm here to deliver a cake for Brooke and Brittany." the delivery lady said. "Uh... BRITTANY." I yelled inside. She came running to the door. "Did we order a cake?" I asked, whispering to her. "Oops." She said. "How much?" I asked the lady. "Fifty-Two dollars and Ninety-Seven cents." the lady said, glancing down at a receipt. "I'll be right back." I said running to grab some money.
I returned a few minutes later with the exact amount of money. "Thank you." I said as I grabbed the cake and Brittany closed the door. "I thought we didn't prefer a cake." I said putting the cake in the fridge. "I guess we did." She said laughing. "What are we having for dinner?" Andrew asked walking into my kitchen. "I called chipotle to cater." I said grabbing table covers out of the supply bags. "Nice!" Andrew said with a smile. "I'm gonna go set up the tables out back." I said, then walked out of the room. I heard someone following me outside. I glanced behind me and saw Andrew. Then I hit something and fell on the floor. I looked up and saw I hit the sliding glass door. Andrew started to giggle and I just smiled, shook my head, then started to pick up the stuff that fell. Andrew bent down and helped me. "Thanks." I said putting a piece of my hair behind my ear. We both got up and he helped me set up.
***<time skip-start of Party>***
The door bell rang for the seventh time. "Do I have to get it again?" I whined to Brittany. She laughed and shook her head, then went to go answer it. It had only been thirty minutes and there were so many people here. Brittany walked in the room with some people guiding them around the party. I waved and said hello.
I went and sat on a bar stool in the kitchen. Andrew came and sat next to me. "When can I have that doughnut?" He whispered. I laughed and turned to look at him. "Your weird." I said getting up and walking over to where I hid them. I gestured for him to come over to me. "Here." I said handing him one and taking one for myself. "How do you stay that skinny?" He joked, as I shoved the doughnut in my mouth. "I work out." I said flexing my "muscles". He rolled his eyes and smiled at me. "And you call ME weird."
**<about and hour later>**
Pretty much everyone had arrived, so I was able to finally go outside and enjoy the music and main part of the party. I found Brittany talking to Jason by the side of the pool. It was hard NOT to push her in the pool, but I managed. "Hey!" I said putting my arm on her shoulder like an arm rest. "Hey!" She said happily. "What are you two lovey doves doing?" I asked. She jabbed her elbow into my side. "Ow." I mumbled rubbing my side. Then we both started laughing. Jason started laughing with us too.
After we all settled down from laughing, I pulled Brittany and Jason over an empty table. "I can't stand anymore." I said plopping into a chair. "Agreed." Brittany said, doing the same. "You girls are just lazy." Jason said pulling a chair next to Brittany. "Has anyone seen Andrew?" I asked curious to where he had gone. "I saw him walk in the front yard on the phone, a few minutes ago." Jason offered. "I'll be right back then." I said getting up to find him.
"Mom. I'm at a party right now." I heard coming from the side of the house. I leaned against the wall. I wanted to hear what he was talking about. "No, I'm not leaving her on her birthday." he said annoyed. "Dads not my problem. Why are you even talking to him anymore! He's in the freaking mafia." He said angrily. "He killed one of my best friends, I'll never forgive him." He yelled into the phone. "I'm not in the mood right now." he said. then I heard him walking. Crap, he couldn't see me. I closed my eyes. Where do I go? "Brooke?" He questioned. Too late now. I gave him a small smile. "You heard that didn't you?" He asked. "Well..." I trailed off. I didn't know how to get out of this one. "Sorry?" I questioned. "Please don't tell anyone." He begged. "Who would I tell?" I joked. He just rolled his eyes and walked off. Did that just happen? Did he just walk away from me? That's not acceptable on MY BIRTHDAY. I chased after him. "Andrew." I said grabbing his shoulder. He shook my hand off and kept walking. "ANDREW." I yelled, trying to run in my high heels after him. I tripped over someone's foot and fell on the concrete around the pool. That's when he turned around. I propped myself up on one arm and tried to stand. I felt a shooting pain from my ankle. I looked down at my foot. there were some scratches."Are you alright?" Andrew asked bending down next to me. I just looked into his eyes. I felt tears burning behind my eyes. I shook my head at him and tried to get up. I couldn't stand up with my heals on so I took them off and limped into the house. "Brooklyn wait!" Andrew said following me. "Go away!" I said. I felt a tear fall down from my face. I wasn't crying because I was sad. I was crying because I was angry. I opened the sliding door and slammed it closed. I didn't care if Andrew got stuck in it. He didn't , obviously, because I heard him open it and follow me inside. I limped as fast as I could into the bathroom. I closed the door and sat down on the floor in front of the sink and opened it. Andrew opened the door then closed. "Brooke. I'm so sorry." He said sitting next to me. I just continued to put band aids on my cuts. "Can I help?" He asked breaking the silence. I stopped what I was doing and looked up at him. "Are you gonna walk away from me again? tell me stories? Lie?" I asked angrily. He looked stunned. "Andrew, I'm not the kind of girl that's all flowers and rainbows every single second. I can handle things, after all I've been doing that since I was in preschool." I said. "I know." He mumbled. "Its just, hard. Having a dad that kills people for a living." He said leaning back and closing his eyes. I felt bad now. I leaned my head on his shoulder. "I'm sorry." I whispered, so quietly it was barely audible. He just looked down at me. "I never want to lose you." Andrew said. "I hope your not mad at me." He sighed. "I was." I said quietly. "Br-" I cut him off before he could start. "Key word; was." I said then I kissed him. We both pulled away and rested our fore heads against each other. "I love you." I told him. "I love you more." He told me. "We should get back to the party before they think we got kidnapped." I laughed. He got up and helped me up. "Ow." I mumbled. "Want me to get you your vans?" He asked. "Please?" I said with a small smile. He walked out to get them and I sat back down.
•Brittany's POV•
It's been more than thirty minutes since Brooke went to find Andrew. She hasn't answered my texts. I should probably tell Jason. I walk over to him and he is just grabbing a doughnut.
"Hey fatty." I say. "I'm not fat!" Jason exclaims. "Well then why are you like 200 pounds, huh?" I say holding laughter. "Well there's something called exercising and having muscles... Unlike you." Jason joked. I look at him with a fake shocked face and he just says, "just kidding," while smiling at me.
"Um, I need to ask you something though," I tell Jason changing the subject. "Have you seen Andrew or Brooke? I haven't seen them for like a half an hour."
"Well I did see someone who looked like she was crying and she was limping earlier. Then a boy ran after her. I wasn't close enough to see who it was though." Jason says and I can tell he was sort of worried. "Oh god. I hope that wasn't Brooke and Andrew..." I say. "If that is Brooke and Andrew, I think I might know why. You know how Andrew had that accident? Well his father is a part of the mafia..." Jason says as he try's to hold back a little bit of tears. I didn't realize how hard this would be for him to say. "Do you remember when I told you that Andrew and I used to be friends back where we used to live? Well him, someone named Carter, and me were all best friends. Until one day, Andrews dad killed Carter. Andrew said that although his father was in the mafia, he was very overprotective about him. He was way to overprotective.. When ever someone upsets Andrew just a little, his father gets revenge. Even if Andrew doesn't want him to. All Carter did was have a little argument about if blue peeps or yellow peeps were better. So of course they disagreed. It's really creepy because Andrew said his father is always watching. Andrew and his mom had to move here because everybody thought that Andrew was responsible for Carter's death. Brooke might have over heard Andrew talking about that on the phone or something and got upset." Jason says. His eyes look like they are tearing up. I feel really bad for him.
I never knew the accident would actually have something to do with a murder.
"Wait, hold up. So if Brooke made Andrew upset.. She could be killed to?" I say. This is really scaring me. I haven't seen them both in over a half and hour now. I'm sure she's fine though. Andrews dad can't always be watching. Right?
(a/n Brittany seems to be the one who always gets paranoid XD)
•Brooke's POV•
"Thanks." I said as Andrew helped me. He smiled at me as if to say your welcome and then helped me out of the bathroom. "Can we go up in my room?" I whispered. "Sure." He responded smiling. I started to go up, but that wasn't going to work. Andrew was a few steps ahead of me. He looked back and I was still on the second one. I think I sprang my ankle.
•Andrew's POV•
I looked behind me on the stairs and saw Brooke struggling to get past the second step. Then she started trying to hop up the stairs one legged. "Need some help?" I asked. "Nope." She said. It toke her a while but she finally got up to the top. "Phew. That was a lot of work." She said laughing. I just shook my head, then she lead me into her room. As I entered I watched her fall on to her bed. "I thought my sweet sixteen would be way more fun than this." Brooke said. "I know it was a heck of a lot of work to plan and set up." I said laughing and sitting next to her. Then it became silent.
•Brooke's POV•
We sat there in silence until I heard my door open. I sat up straight immediately. Who would be coming into my room? "There you are!" Brittany yelled running over to me. I gave her a weird look. "Come on I have an awesome surprise for you!" She said excitedly. "I can't."I said gesturing to my foot. Then she mumbled something I couldn't understand. "I knew this would happen." She said rolling her eyes and looking at Andrew. "What are you talking about?" I asked surprised by the anger in her eyes and tone. "I knew he would do something eventually that would hurt you!" She said. "He didn't do anything!" I yelled. I wasn't breaking my promise to him. I promised I wouldn't tell anyone, and knowing Brittany she would want the full story. "Then explain to me how you hurt your foot." She said crossing her arms. "I was running by the pool and fell." I said quietly. "Oh." She said looking down at her feet. "I'll come if you can go in my bathroom and grab me my ankle brace that's under the cabinet." I said. "Okay." She said then walked out to my bathroom. I looked over at Andrew. "You just lied to her." He said confused. "Not really, I just didn't tell the whole story." I said. Which was true. I didn't "lie" to her. I just didn't tell the whole thing. He laughed at me and I joined him. "What's so funny?" Brittany asked walking back in. "Nothing." I said still laughing.
Then I got up and started out of my room. I looked back and Brittany and Andrew were following me. "What did you want to show me?" I asked Brittany walking down the stairs. "Oh, right." She said running in front of me. "This way!" She said joyfully.
