The town erupted into joyous screams, as fireworks blasted into the sky. Miles and miles of people flooded the grounds, pushing and shoving past each other to trampede closer to their hero. They admired his glowing eyes, drowning him with endless compliments. From behind part of the uncrowned pillars stood two people clad in black.
"This wasn't the plan, Lyric. They weren't supposed to die." Rose handed the witch the purple bottle of poison, the contents in full, unopened.
"They learned their lesson, soon so will Aklin. He is greedy." They calmly explain taking the bottle and setting it on an empty slot in their pouch. The other jars in their pouch, varieties in shapes, colors, and hues, the purple bottle blends in perfectly.
"I worry for him. He used to be generous, willing to fight and take the shots to protect his friends. Now he is mentally insane and ballistic." Rose grumbled taking the hands of the witch watching the blind townspeople frenzie and boast their insane hero.
Around them people began to trample each other to reach their hero. Children were kicked to the side, and younger toddlers screamed for their diranged parents as they neglected their young. Teenagers rushed to their aid and began to rush them away from the insane adults, overwhelmed by the gem's call, pulling them into greed and lust for power. The crowd began to latch onto Aklin, who in his own delusions could not see the people swarming him, his body glowing brighter, and overwhelming the world around him.
The electric volts illuminating from his body began to shock and burn through people as they toppled over each other. Screams of pain rang out, brainwashed and submitting to the burn of the power controlling their brains.
"We have to stop them, they are hurting the children and themselves." Rose called out to Lyric. The yells grew louder covering their conversation.
"Rose, you handle the teens and children, they are not affected by the gem. It's enchanted, let me try to handle the enchantment to remove it from the parents. I thought I did but seeing this i didnt." Lyric ordered calmly, their hand squeezing Rose's gently.
"Stay safe." Rose grumbled before heading out to help the children.
The crowd had begun to thin in the back as the masses hoarded in the front. Rose waded forward picking up every child she saw, her arms grew heavy as she started to hand them off to the teens that joined her in the crowds. She could see Lyric on the outskirts of the area working on something to remove the effects of the gem.
Their eyes grew a vibrant blue, coating their face and slowly their body. The children were cleared from the area as Rose rushed out of the crowds. Soon the light covered the crowd, overpowering the yellow glow of Aklin.
As the glow calmed down the true pain of the situation hit Rose, Aklin stood, his eyes a crazed yellow with bolts shaping around his body. At his feet, hundreds of bodies unconscious and burned scattered, marked by the lightning hero.
