Lay Her to Rest
If you want to shed an old skin,
lay her to rest,
bite into dirt
dig feet into the ground
shove up sleeves
muster all bravery
scrounge up all courage
drag, push, pull tomb seal
just-a little-bit-more...
until you are looking in
at the you folded into
the velvet box,
lift limp self
wrap arms around her
wrap all your love around her, for her
rock her like the sea
kiss her forehead
as if she's a queen,
then she will finally sleep
with closed eyes
and upturned lips,
Caution-
failure to do so
will result in a slice of you being
buried alive.
