Signature
The moment
I was offered
the crystal ball job
he had originally encouraged me
to reach for
in a land too far of a distance
for a heart to trek,
I knew that when I signed
the contract
I would seal
our fate,
close our chapter,
throughout the interviewing process
my heart had paced back and forth,
stuttered and stumbled,
but when the contract appeared in my email
I didn't flinch,
steady and resolute
I entered my signature,
erased his.
