I sat on my bed, looking at my phone. It had been 3 weeks since I first met Luke. He kept on appearing but always in public. He would never say anything to me, only smiling and winking. I knew if I didn't tread carefully, he would come to find me. He knew where I lived but how? Surely he didn't know the Alice in the newspaper would be the same Alice he wanted. Did he...follow me? And in the park, no sane person would randomly ask another person on their opinion of children...
My phone buzzed and I jumped up and off the bed. I stared at it as an unknown number flashed across my phone with a message.
'Unknown Number
I adore you'I instantly knew who it would be and looked around the room cautiously. Even though I knew he wasn't in the flat, a part of me still wanted to check. I got up and walked towards the kitchen area. It was dark and I could hear a noise. As I turned on the light, I saw no one and breathed a sigh of relief.
"Alice darling, come to bed...I've been waiting for you."
I stopped and spun to face my previously empty bedroom. His voice was clear as anything and despite my inner pleas to run away, I followed the voice.
He was there. Sitting on my bed was Luke. He got up as he saw me in the doorway.
"Oh Alice, how confused you look...why is that?"
"You're in my flat, why would I not be confused...how did you get in?"
He chuckled and began to walk towards me.
"Oh, the little details don't matter. All that you need to know is that I'm here now."
"No, tell me NOW!"
I shouted at him before realising my mistake. His eyes darkened and I tried to leave but he grabbed me around the waist and pulled me back. He flung me onto my bed and I squeezed my eyes tightly shut. I heard the door slam before opening my eyes to see him in front of me.
"Why did you raise your voice at me Alice?"
I looked up at him as tears filled my eyes.
"P-please...if you leave now, I won't call the police."
He smiled and moved his head to be just above my own.
"Darling, that's a bit extreme. Now be quiet so I can do what I have wanted since I first saw you..."
I gasped and tried to get up but he put his hand on my chest and looked into my eyes, pinning me down.
"Did I ask you to move?"
I tried to fight against him until he hit me. I felt my cheek sting against him and I whimpered out in pain.
"Oh Alice, the fun I'm going to have with you..."
