New Year's Day

President McCirty walked up to the stage, all cameras focused on him as the crowd cheered and celebrated another great year.

After the cheers and tears of joy calmed down he smiled at the camera and began his speech of success for the world to see.

"I am a very, very proud President," he grinned at the cameras and then at the crowd.

The happiness in his eyes couldn't be covered up for anything.

"This year we have cured over 50 diseases that were once incurable but cancer research broke those chains, we finally stopped the wars to unite this nation that stretches across the mighty earth, we are tackling poverty and slavery so greatly that evil won't know what hit it, crime is an all-time low and finally, climate change is a thing of the past. Sadness, pain, isolation, fears, they are all things of the past!" Everyone cheered and clapped their hands wanting to hear more.

"So I raise this glass to you, because without you, the future of earth wouldn't have been as perfect as it is now" Everyone lifted their drinks, hands, children, everything, just to join the joyful moment.

"Here's to year 2200!" He triumphed. Everyone jumped up and cheered once again as fireworks lit up the sky and planes flew through the vibrant colours. The music started playing and all around the world people celebrated, even if it wasn't technically their new year's day yet.

Now, what could go wrong?

Do you remember those planes? Well they were unauthorized but no one had checked them out as it was 'world holiday'.

So that's exactly what went wrong.

The planes started to open up and drop bodies from the sky. One plane landed on the stage. Terrorists ran out of the plane and grabbed the president before the guards could do anything. A terrorist stabbed a needle into the President's neck and injected an unknown yellowish substance into him. Then all four terrorists got their needles and did the same thing to themselves.

The falling bodies were alive but what really made the guards freeze was the fact that they were twice the size of humans and were attacking everyone.

The guards couldn't do anything. No one could do anything. The human race wasn't prepared for what had come.

The President himself snarled at the guards as his teeth and nails grew into knife like structures. He let the terrorists jump off the stage and help attack the humans.

A horrific snarl covered his face "It is the end my brothers" he said before biting the flesh off the nearest guard.

318 years later, year 2518

After 50 years of the cannibal monsters continuously attacking, they finally retreated back to large continents such as Asia, Europe, Africa and America. For the humans, time re-winded itself, cures that were once found are lost, the world's geniuses are dead, poverty swept across the world and humanity fell back into the Middle Ages.

However, not all technology was lost.

Humanity developed and researched weapons that could kill these monsters, even though the future no longer looked perfect, they weren't going to let it look like hell.

In about 250 years the cannibal human like things called deligents haven't attacked. The world used to be populated with 9 billion people but an estimated 1,500,000,000 (a billion and a half) deligents are still alive while the human population is about 40,000.

The billions of human deaths were mainly from deligents eating them, starvation, suicide, and infection from injuries and disease.

After the trauma humanity went through, the humans had escaped the horror by moving to the most isolated place on Earth which was an island slightly larger than the UK.

A few years before the deligents first attacked in 2200 this island was created by a volcanic eruption. The government protected the island from human development and only allowed natural wild life to grow.

Who was to know that this protected land floating in the sea would inhabit the last of the human race?

Moving to the island was so successful because only rarely there would be an attack of over 100 deligents each day. This meant casualties were low and finally life was getting back to 'normal'.

However, once again humanity let down their guard.
