By the end of the 3 months we all exhausted after all the physical and mental training we had been through. Me, Travis and Natasha were hanging around in my room until there was a loud knock at the door.
"Are you expecting someone?" Natasha asked, hanging upside down from my bed still reading her book.
"No...." I jumped off the end of my bed and opened the door to see the two twins, Eva and Poppy. Even though they were small and cute with their blue eyes and curly blond hair, don't be fooled. These kids have perfected teamwork. When working together they are almost unbeatable.
"Hi what's up?" I smiled at them
Poppy grabbed my hand and pulled me out the room "We are holding a campfire party!"
"And our class are all invited!" Eva squealed excitedly but Natasha was too stuck inside her book to hear Eva "hey come on!" Eva grabbed Natasha's hand. Before we knew it all three of us were running over to the stack of marshmallows and filling our mouths.
"Best day of my life" Travis' eyes shone with happiness as he held up a marshmallow to the beautiful night sky.
Phoebe plopped the marshmallow out if his hand and placed it in her mouth "what? You don't want to be too stuffed and fat when fighting the deligents" she muffled through the marshmallow.
"You've broken my heart" Travis' face looked literally heart broken.
Phoebe turned to me "he isn't serious is he?"
"I don't think-"
"Yes I am! That was the only marshmallow that I found on the floor, its special" Travis declared. Phoebe started to cough up the marshmallow regretting her decisions "joking!" Travis laughed at her. Phoebe crossed her arms in defeat.
"Okay you win; I will never steal food from you again"
"Fine with me" Travis smiled in victory
People started to sit around a camp fire eating marshmallows and chatting so we decided to join them. Tomorrow was the day that we practice fighting actual deligents. All of us have to present our skill in some tests to General Mathew and the four Captains of the military and they will hand pick 4 individuals from each class who will be the first to fight a deligent. Amelia however was picked earlier in because of her outspokenness.
"Usually at the end and beginning of the practice fights some people get cold feet at pull out of military training"
"But who would pull out after all these months of training?" I asked Natasha
"People like them" She pointed to Ryan and Lisa who were shaking uncontrollably as people from our class tried to calm them down.
"Why did you come to train for the military?" Eva chirped.
Everyone turned around to hear my story, there was silence for a few seconds before I opened my mouth "I saw the deligents when they attacked, they killed my mother, father and brother before me I would have died if the military soldiers didn't save me"
Everyone gasped, except Natasha and Travis because they understood how I felt as they had been through similar events.
"I want to take back what was stolen from me by killing every deligent there is. I don't wasn't to be stuck here with no freedom, I want to see the world and demolishing the deligent's existence is the only way I can do that"
"Same here" everyone turned to Lucas who was seriously starring in space. He was actually being... Normal and non-argumentative for once. "A few years ago my dad turned into a deligents and tried to kill me and my sister"
His eyebrows creased together as the memories flooded back "I couldn't fight him, I was too scared so my sister tried to protect me by pushing him out of the window" he squeeze his eyes shut with emotional pain "he took her down with him and now she's dead. But... I want to be strong like her!" Lucas looked up turning to look at everyone "I want to fight like her, I want to kill them all"
Parker smiled sadly "that's harsh, I never knew deligents could be so..."
"Destructive?" Travis smiled "Now let me tell you my story of how Kelsy saved me from the deligents". From then, everyone chewed their marshmallows intensely as they listened to everyone's story. By the end of the night everyone was pumped up for the battles tomorrow. It was weird seeing the smiles knowing that many of us would drop out of the military in fear of the deligents.
Trust me, I would never drop out now, I've seen a deligents before, I was afraid before but now that I know how to kill it, I won't hesitate to end its life.
Nothing can stop us now. Just you wait deligents, I am coming for you.
