Izuku's hands were like a vice grip on Kendo and Juzo's hair the villain Lucifer stared at the hero ahead of him. Todoroki glared as he stared into Lucifer's eyes his red crimson eye reminding him that of a snake the iris slit as if he were ready to strike. Todoroki was in a situation where he could do absolutely nothing, in this situation he was powerless, any move he made would guarantee that the safety of his fellow heroes was unachievable.
Todoroki put a hand to his ear, his index finger pressing onto his earpiece, he had to contact his team he had no way of getting an edge in this battle. Hand-to-hand combat was not an option and neither was his quirk, Todoroki didn't doubt Lucifer could take him on even with two hostages in his grasp, the others on the floor also didn't make this any easier. Opening his mouth Todoroki went to alert his team, he needed someone to make up for his lack of ability now. Just as he was about to speak Lucifer made a move, Todoroki watched as Juzo the poor boy was slammed face-first into the wall that structured the sewer.
"Put your hand down Todoroki, otherwise Kendo and Juzo here will have a visit to the ER, and I know you don't want that now do you?" Lucifer brought Juzo back in front of him the ignoring the boy's groans of pain as his nose leaked blood, bruises forming on his filth-covered face.
Putting his hand down Todoroki glared at the villain his hands at his sides as he looked at the heroes on the floor all of them were shivering, throwing up copious amounts of sewage water that had invaded their bodies, looking back at Lucifer Todoroki was stuck in his thoughts. The boy had changed so much during this game, while he hadn't seen him much on the prep days this sudden change was too rapid, then the first day came to mind, the news broadcast that Lucifer had done provided him a way to know more about Izuku.
"Midoriya what happened to you? This game isn't funny anymore, can't you see what you're doing to your friends? That news broadcast on the first day, was your life so bad that now you take that anger out on us?" This was the only time Todoroki could get some answers and not only stall for time, without him reporting he was sure the rest of the heroes will try and find him to see what was taking him so long. His objective was to try and appeal to the Izuku he knew was in there, the same boy who wanted to save everyone with a smile on his face, Todoroki did know the pain of family abuse, his father's training was a constant reminder along with his scar.
Lucifer's eyes showed amusement as he looked at todoroki, 'So he truly believed me.' Izzuku couldn't help but chuckle, the low rumbling of his muffled laughs echoing through the tunnel, those who were able to hear him had chills run down their skin. Uraraka who was on the ground froze still at his laugh as it increased in volume. todoroki was confused, "What happened? I thought I explained it clearly, do you know how far the breaking point of the human mind I am past? Every day the world was against me, I'm sure I told you before I didn't awaken my quirk until the day of the entrance exam, knowing that could you imagine how I lived my life as a quirkless stepping stone? My mother, my friends, my classmates, everyone turned against me, so when you say friends no one comes to mind, the Izuku who was your comrade, your classmate who had the naive dream of saving everyone villain or not, never existed, he was merely a persona created to protect myself so you can stop trying to maintain a connection to that fake."
The shock that crossed todoroki's face made Izuku wish he could take a picture to capture the dumbfounded look. Todoroki however denied it, there wasn't any way that could be true, the smiles Izuku shared, the laughs, the times he sacrificed himself for the goodness of his classmates, "That isn't true Midoriya, if it was you wouldn't have opened your self up, the tears and smiles you showed us couldn't have been fake, those emotions cant be lies, its not possible."
