The large golden gates steadily opened to reveal at least 100 cooking stations and two people. A teal-haired girl with 5 ponytails resembling a star and a large man the size of a giant.

People began to argue because of the objective of the phase. Cooking. They were saying things like "this is the hunter's exam, not some cooking show" and "I want to be a blacklist hunter, not some stupid gourmet".

These comments narked Aki. They decided to bite their tongue but their aura became fierce and threatening just like the fusia-haired man on the other half of the applicants. With their rise in aura, the examiners grew tense. This caused them to lash out at the applicants and to later blame it on them dissing their hunter abilities.

Their ingredient was pork. Any species of pig from the biska park Forest. Anyone who did their research would know there was only one species of pig that inhabited the area.

The carnivorous pigs had just finished a meal but we were already hungry for another. Gon, killua, kurapika and leorio had all slid down a grassy slope when they came across these mammals. They were gnawing on large bones, one wrong step and they would be dead.

They were all chased by the pigs whilst Aki perched in a tree waiting for the right moment. Not now. Not yet. Just a little bit more. Now! They jumped down and landed on the pig's forehead instantly killing it. The easy part is over now time to figure out how to cook.

Fire. Fire. Fire. Fire. The fire was all around as people began roasting their pigs whilst Aki sat down not knowing how to cook it. What if. No, it's the hunter exam. But maybe.

"Menchi," Aki called out gaining the attention of the female examiner. "Can you come here?" They asked seemingly politely.

Menchi luckily obliged and came over to Aki. "Is it against the rules to tell someone your food preferences and how to cook?" They asked most definitely need the help. "Well, I can't tell you how to cook 'cause that defeats the purpose but try something new. If you're unsure about the cooking part just pan-fry in oil if the meat is pink it's undercooked but don't leave it for too long so it's cremated. If you think it's done try a piece but not too much. That all?" Menchi answered to which Aki replied, "yes thank you".

Fire. Aki turned on the flame to medium heat with oil in the pan. They saw some seasonings so decided to try them. They were told to do something new. They used herbs, paprika and chilli flakes. 'Do these flavours match?' They thought to themselves followed by an 'oh fuck it's thought and they grew confident. The meat was now cooking so they decided to start on the rest of the dish.

Knives. Aki sliced some tomatoes, peppers, lettuce and others to go in a salad. They also added a spoonful of olive oil as well as salt and pepper. They roasted some asparagus in the oven with oil, salt and pepper. Menchis stake was finished and now they played it. They began to cook buharas stake in the seasoned oil. 'Please taste Good they thought. Menchis's stake was slightly too big for the plate so Aki reshaped it and tasted the excess. 'What the fuck did I do?! It tastes like ass!'

Everyone else had been and now it was Akis' turn. " just a quick warning if anything happens within the next week it wasn't me." The examiners had a brief look of confusion but soon realized what was meant when they took a bite. Even buhara spat it out. "I appreciate the effort but what the fuck did you do to the food!" Menchi yelled. " I cooked? " Aki replied.

The crowd chatted amongst themselves about how bad the food must be to make buhara spit it out.

Turned out every single applicant had failed. Whoops.

Aki was normal on the outside but their aura had a sudden spark of bloodlust. It oozed out of their soul from every inch. Sweat accumulated on everyone because of how nerve-racking it was to be that close to the sinister aura.

Suddenly, an airship was seen overhead. It had the hunter association logo on it. An old-looking man wearing wooden shoes and all-white clothes with blue accents jumped from the ship. If that was anyone else even with nen they would have broken their bones.

'Must be someone powerful' Aki thought, 'what will happen now?'
