A/n : a quick authors note before this chapter. I would like to repeat this chapter will not be in as much detail as the final phase however it will obviously be in that as that is where we are with the story line. Aki will however be developing some sort of relationship with the other characters to progress along the hxh timeline more than it was before the rewrite. Thank you for listening 💕

𝙰𝚔𝚒 𝚙𝚘𝚟

Time has come for the end of the exam. Netero has just revealed the board and who will be batteling one another.

Everyone was confused as there was only one spot at the top of the bracket. Was only one person able to pass?

"The only one to lose will be at the top." Netero explained to the small group of people remaining. He also explained that a person could be disqualified by murdering their opponent or interference with another battle.

"Wait but the fights aren't fair and some people have more chances than others" one of the participants asked.

"The amount of opportunities granted are on how well you have preformed during the exam as a whole. Let's begin the first battle, Gon vs Hanzo" netero spoke before sending the first two to the arena.

The fight began and Hanzo began to attack. Gon was ruthlessly attacked but yet still remained standing.

"That is one stubborn kid" Aki mumbled not meaning anyone else to hear.

"Tell me about it" the person next to them spoke. He or she? Had long-ish blonde hair and wore tribal clothing.

Aki wanted to figure this person out but they didn't know why so they instead looked at the fight. Gon was battered and bruised yet still stood. Hanzo pinned gon to the floor within seconds from the last attack, "I'm going to break your arm" he said to gon which made the blonde guys friend pissed.

"I'm going to kill him!" The unfamiliar man yelled only to be held back by the blonde guy.

"Leorio stop!" He yelled at him. 'So that's the suited guys name but what about you blonde boy's Aki thought whilst being more interested in them then the fight.

"Kurapika! He's hurting gon!" Leorio yelled.

'Kurapika? Why does that name feel familiar. Not even familiar, it feels... Important. Like he is important to finding out about me.' Aki tried to push the thoughts away and spoke in a monotone voice, "he is right. If you interfere you will only be hurting yourself. You want to be a hunter, right?" Leorio stepped down and gritted his teeth.

"I'm Aki" they introduced themself to pass the time.

"I'm kurapika, nice to meet you" he introduced himself and the two spoke about the fight. Mostly kurapika speaking about gons stubbornness and Aki speaking on the fighting style.

" so what brings you to the hunter exam, must be decent enough to make it this far " Aki changed the topic feeling intrigued as to why they felt this person is important.

" I want to kill the phantom troupe and reclaim the eyes of my brethren " he had a serious tone behind his words.

' a kurta, hm... He is interesting '

" the phantom troupe is a pretty big goal, your going to need a lot of work and training " Aki replied to be met with silence.

Hanzo surrendered as he realized gon wouldn't give up even if he was on the brink of death.

Gon had to be taken away to the infirmary whilst all of the others had to continue the battle.

"I know but I need to do this, not for me but for the kurta" kurapika said before going to his battle.
