Whale Herding

Amara and Rodrigo have been swimming for almost two days. They had stopped wearing their coats the previous day as they now were in much warmer waters. They had their coats wrapped around the base of the tail, just below where their spear strap is. They were about halfway to the Pacific kingdom when night fell so they decided to settle for the night in a small cave. Rodrigo was about to go to sleep while Amara was looking out into the ocean. Amara was amazed with herself. She managed to swim through thousands of miles of ocean and she has discovered so much in her journey with Rodrigo. She was really starting to fully embrace the ocean as a home and her mermaid tail naturally felt like a part of her, like she had it since she was born. She even thought to herself that she was lucky that she got to explore the ocean with an attractive man. She stopped her thoughts at that and looked over at Rodrigo who was fast asleep at this point. She was starting to doubt him more ever since that nightmare. Surely he wouldn't take things too far? Would he? He only wanted to protect even though it may be excessive at times or even if it might put her at more risk. She was wondering if she should separate herself from him once their adventure was over. She then thought that she'll make the decision when the time comes. She then went back to her thinking about embracing herself being a mermaid. She looked down at her petite chest and touched her bikini top. She wondered when she should ditch it as she was feeling more and more comfortable with her body and the fact that she was a mermaid felt more natural to her. As she was pondering on this, she was receiving a call from someone. She answered it and recognized the voice.

"Hi Amara, it's me, Madison," the voice said.

"Oh hi, Madison. How's business going?" Amara replied.

"Oh it's going great. I just wanted to tell you that you got the job," Madison said.

"Oh wow. Thanks so much, Madison," Amara gleefully replied.

"I figured you would be a great waitress and also provide great entertainment as well. Your first shift starts in two days, by the way," Madison said.

Amara was shocked. Her first shift's in two days but she is far from over with her adventure. It would take at least two weeks before their adventure would be over.

"Uhm, Madison, is it okay if I can start around two or three weeks from now?" Amara asked.

"How come? Is anything wrong?" Madison asked in a concerned tone.

"I just have some personal issues to settle. Sorry that I can't make it," Amara said.

"Oh no, don't be sorry. I totally understand. Take as much time as you need. Focusing on yourself is the most important thing to do before anything else," Madison said.

"Thanks Madison, I appreciate the concern," Amara said.

"You're welcome. I'm always making sure that my employees are feeling their best even if it means they need time off," Madison replied.

She then ended the call.

Amara looked back towards Rodrigo and swam over beside him and laid down. She wondered if Rodrigo saw her as a daughter judging from his recent actions. It's very obvious that he does see her as such but she also thought he might be taking things a little to the extreme. His rage and strength is a scary sight to see and she was starting to get concerned that she would eventually end up on the receiving end of that rage, even if it were by accident. She decided to sleep after that as they still had a long journey ahead of them.

It took them another two days of swimming before they arrived at the Pacific kingdom. Along the way, they encountered all sorts of tropical fish as well as many pods of whales and dolphins. The size of the whales truly amazed Amara. She knew that they were some of the biggest creatures on the planet yet seeing one up close was a sight to behold. They even managed to touch the side of some whales on their way to the Pacific kingdom.
